    Enrolled Nurse

    Summary

    • The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and functions under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse in accordance with hospital standards and policies. As a Professional Practitioner, the incumbent also is responsible for and is held accountable for his/her acts andomissions. Nursing activities form part of a nursing regime that is planned and initiated by the Registered Nurse. The Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for the assessment and care of the needs of patients and will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients/reporting potential/ actual risks identified, ensure all stock is well controlled and managed.

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse.
    • + 1 - 5 Years working experience in same position.
    • Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable health care legislation

    Work Experience

    • Working experience in private healthcare or healthcare funding industry will be advantageous.
    • Relevant experience in the nursing discipline

    Registered Nurse (x2)

    Summary

    • The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost-effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards andpolicies.     Unit Manager

    Summary

    • The Unit Manager will be responsible for coordinating Improved Quality Nursing Care by ensuring compliance with professional and ethical practices. The incumbent will be accountable for coordinatingthe Training, Development, and Mentoring of staff in the Unit. The incumbent will also be expected to apply and manage the best and most effective operational practices by focusing on the integrationof people, technology, and finance drivers to ensure that Unit costs are maintained within budget.
    • Administer and supervise, thus ensuring standards for quality nursing care are met in the unit, evaluate on an ongoing basis and take appropriate action.
    • Monitor and enforce standards, procedures and staff performance. Manage unit activities, including irregularities and policy violations and take corrective and follow-up action. Perform clinical instruction as necessary.
    • Control drugs as per regulations of the Pharmacy Act (Act 53 of 1974), perform checks on drug totals and drug registers and ensure that procedures and recording are adhered to. Rationalise and control emergency stock. Stock control
    • Monitor and manage staff attendance and ensure coverage of the unit at all times. Allocate staff based on workload and level of competence, ensuring optimal staff usage and maintaining the stability of the nurse/patient ratio.
    • Promote and maintain good working and interpersonal relationships with management, patients, staff, doctors and colleagues. Coordinate the activities of all hospital departments to provide uniformity of direction.
    • Demonstrate professional ethics and leadership qualities. Maintain standards and conduct to the South African Nursing Act and SANC Regulations
    • Conduct frequent ward rounds and provide top-quality, customer-centric service

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/ B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF7 qualifications
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
    • Post-basic qualification in Management will be advantageous

    Work Experience

    • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in a Private Hospital Environment
    • Experience in clinical leadership
    • Mental Health experience is essential
    • Full understanding of the Mental Health Care Act, No. 17 of 2002 and the Regulations
    • Full understanding of the Nursing Act, No. 33 of 2005 and the Nursing Act, No. 50 of 1978 and the Regulations
