    Business Analyst (Senior)

    Key Purpose

    • Compass Business Analyst will be responsible for the elicitation of requirements, documentation and implementation of business/product rules. Requirements for the system and process enhancements as well as legislative requirements. Compass configuration skills and knowledge, testing as well as support and root cause analysis of production issues.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the execution and delivery on projects, enhancements and resolving production issues.
    • Responsible for the elicitation of business and product rules during the analysis phase of the enhancement and minor projects, functional specifications on Compass system and configuration and the quality of testing outputs and deliverables. 
    • Decomposing complex problems into simple Compass solutions. Strong Compass knowledge in different sub-systems. Able to configure rules according to business, product and legislative rules e.g. Expense, Claims, Product configuration.
    • Strong Compass understanding and application of Compass rules and architecture of sub subsystems.
    • Strong Financial Services LISP and LIFE Product knowledge is required.
    • Produce written functional requirement specifications for various systems around Compass enhancements/maintenance/projects etc. by retrieving the requirements from business and holding JAD sessions and producing technical detail in order to meet business’s requirements.
    • Effectively testing and test matrix for all requirements after development to ensure that they are working successfully as per FRD and to identify and fix any test defects before deploying for user acceptance testing and sign-off.
    • Generate and review test packs and execute test cases.
    • Root cause analysis of bugs to reduce and eliminate future risk.
    • Providing training and support to junior analysts and other team members.
    • Leading a team of configuration analysts and providing guidance and support on projects
    • Developing strategies to optimize system configurations for improved performance and efficiency.
    •  Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices in configuration management.
    • Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks associated with configuration changes.
    • Reviewing and approving configuration changes to ensure they meet quality standards and business requirements.

    Education and Experience

    • Matric
    • Business Analysis certification a plus
    • BSc Computer Sciences / Information Systems or equivalent tertiary qualification (Advantageous)
    • Qracle SQL knowledge and skills
    • Minimum 8 Years Compass experience.

    Functional Test Manager

    Job Purpose

    • The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the testing of large-scale, complex programs within the financial services domain. The Test Manager will be responsible for defining and executing comprehensive test strategies, ensuring quality delivery through both manual and automated testing approaches. This includes oversight of all testing phases, System Integration Testing (SIT), Performance, Security, and Mobile Testing while leveraging industry-standard tools and frameworks to drive efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement in the testing lifecycle.

     Areas of responsibility 

    Test Planning & Coordination

    • Lead and manage overall test planning and execution for large scale projects.
    • Define the test execution strategy and oversee its implementation across all phases.
    • Estimate timelines for test planning, design and execution activities.
    • Assess and plan resource requirements to support testing efforts.
    • Coordinate environmental setup and readiness for testing activities.

    Test Design and Execution

    Business Analyst (Intermediate)

    Key Purpose

    • Understanding the technical requirements, and through a structured process documenting, validating and translating it into functional specifications that are used by developers to craft a technical solution. Testing and validating the functionality of the technical solution against the technical requirements. Interfacing between the Systems Architect, client (where relevant) and the development team with regards to the technical, business and functional requirements. Ensuring that the technical and/or the business requirements are delivered in the implemented solution. Working with multiple systems and business areas and multiple teams that require deep integration of solutions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, and acting as consultant on the application.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    Business Case

    • Assist the Systems Architect and/or business to articulate the benefits they wish to realize with the solution. Facilitating the development of a Technical Design or Business Case.

    Agile Methodology

    • Design and validate the functional solution using Agile Methodology.
    • This involves interpreting the product / technical requirements into Agile Epics and Stories
    • Plan Agile Sprints and Stories for the Sprint
    • Apply knowledge of the system, interfaces and dependencies to highlight integration aspects that must be considered.
    • Identify a set of stakeholders that need to be involved in creating and validating the Agile Story Board by interview business and technical owners, as well as experienced members of the development team (Development Manager, Architect, Snr BA).
    • Design a set of test cases/scripts, test scenario's and test data sets to accompany the Agile Story Board
    • Validate the Agile Epics and Test Basket with the identified stakeholders and obtain sign-off.

    Release Notes & Training Material

    • Update and publish release notes related to the current system changes implemented, and notify impacted parties. Maintain and update the Agile Story Board (Epics and Stories) with any added content.

    Actuarial Analyst / Actuary

    Key Purpose

    • The purpose of this role is to assist the senior actuary with reinsurance and capital reporting responsibilities for Discovery Life and Invest. The key tasks include quarterly capital reporting to the Prudential Authority (PA), and contributing to the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), focusing on Pillar 1, Embedded Value (EV) and IFRS 17 risk metrics, providing insights that support management’s decision-making. In addition, the role offers exposure to technical reinsurance management, including treaty interpretation, monthly reporting, and engagement with key stakeholders.

    Areas of responsibility may include but is not limited to:

    • Assist in the preparation and submission of quarterly capital reporting to the Prudential Authority (PA).
    • Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process, with a particular focus on:
    • Pillar 1 regulatory capital requirements
    • Embedded Value (EV) metrics
    • IFRS 17 risk metrics
    • Measurement and assessment of internal liquidity capital metrics
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Valuation, Risk, and Product Development to provide insights and analysis to inform management decisions on capital adequacy and business strategy.
    • Assist in improving the capital management framework and risk reporting processes.
    • Strengthen the life and investment product offering through capital optimisation and risk insights.
    • Contribute to technical reinsurance management, including:

    Education and Experience

    Essential:

    • Matric with mathematics
    • Honours degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematical Statistics from an accredited institution
    • Strong actuarial exam progress, must have completed at least 11-12 board exams.

    Advantageous:

    • SQL or other coding experience
    • Working experience within the Life Insurance industry.
    • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary
