    Dispatch Controller

    Job Description    
    RCL FOODS is seeking a Dispatch Controller to join our Baking Division. The role will be based in Pretoria and report to the Distribution Manager. RCL FOODS is looking for an individual that has strong administrative skills, customer service and supervisory experience.

    RCL FOODS entrusts the Dispatch Controller to control the processes of inbound, outbound, and stock handling in order to maintain efficiency within the dispatch. The Dispatch Controller is also responsible for operational deliverables, expectations, and coordinating progress with the direct line manager.
    Minimum Requirements    

    • A minimum of 4 – 6 years working experience
    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain / Logistics Management
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Operational Warehouse Management.
    • Control operational deliverables, and expectations, and coordinate progress with the direct line manager.
    • Do daily, weekly and monthly stocktakes on Syspro.
    • Ensure that balancing between despatch and Van sheets is done daily.
    • Do daily reports and send them to management.
    • Do daily reports on crate movement on drivers and between depots and other bakeries.
    • Work hand in hand with all departments.
    • Ensure transfers from production are received on Syspro with correct quantities.
    • Ensure SCT invoiced are transferred in from other bakeries.
    • Approve and oversee the execution of all relevant warehouse documentation.
    • Ensure that all products are received and stored and despatched timeously and in accordance with Group policy.
    • Provide direction to warehouse team on a daily basis including overseeing the assignment of individual
    • Control the inbound process by receiving products in good condition.
    • Ensure stock is in the right location by completing cyclic counts on a daily basis.
    • Ensure staff / Clerks are doing proper stock rotation when picking in the System and despatching of Stock Control production and expiry dates on every inbound and outbound.
    • Control damages on inbound/outbound.
    • Identify root cause and take the necessary actions such as issuing warnings.
    • Ensure all Stock received from the Plant is kept away within the specified time limits.
    • Ensure that all stocks leaving the warehouse premises do so with proper documentation.
    • Ensure all cameras are focused on risk areas such as entry and exit points and on areas that assist in the determination of the level of inactivity amongst casual staff, ensuring there is no overstaffing.
    • Ensure that all trucks leaving the Bakery are sealed and documented.
    • Check that staff understand and comply with the standards set by ISO 22 000 and HACCP.
    • Ensure goods are delivered in the appropriate condition and that there is no damage or discrepancy.

    Processing Manager - Processing Plant

    Job Description    
    The Chicken Business is currently recruiting for a Processing Manager to join our Processing Plant Leadership Team. The role reports directly to the Manufacturing Executive and will be based in Rustenburg.

    The ideal candidate will need:

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Completed Matric and 5 years relevant experience (Preferably in a unionized food processing plant and 2 years in a management position)

    • Abattoir hygiene or meat inspection qualification would be preferable
    • Poultry processing experience would be advantageous
    • Knowledge of TQMS systems would be preferable

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Strategic Contribution
    • Provide input into the Business strategy by keeping up with the latest trends and developmental processing.
    • Provide input into annual SIAs and execute on annual objectives.
    • Provide input and contribute to the relationship between cross-functional processing teams ensuring service delivery.

    Operations Management

    • Drive Processing asset productivity through agreed KPIs and efficiencies.
    • Report on a weekly basis on actual Processing KPIs versus budget and address non-conformances promptly.
    • Drive Processing’s appearance and image through maintaining high housekeeping standards.
    • Respond to factors that cause variances against planned production versus size of birds and adjust production plans accordingly.
    • Manage Processing yield factors and initiate plans to reduce losses.
    • Analyse downtime, provide valid explanations for loss of production and put action plans in place to prevent recurrence.
    • Manage labour resources within budget to obtain required outputs.
    • Liaise with New Product Development to ensure appropriate staff, equipment and materials are available to run successful trials.
    • Guide and prepare the Processing team for customer and statutory audits.
    • Support the plant management system to ensure SIC delivery.
    • Work closely with planning department to align production capacities and product mix requirements.
    • Continuously adjust manloading and equipment availability to meet the constant changing production plan and priorities.
    • Monitor volumes and equipment and communicate any issues to the Factory Manager and Engineering Manager promptly.
    • Work closely with the engineering department to ensure that equipment performance and maintenance priorities are aligned and changed to meet production requirements.

    Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Compliance

    • Monitor the Processing team to ensure all legislative and industry standards are achieved and prompt action is taken where required to ensure there are no areas of non-compliance.
    • Chair and facilitate regular safety meetings and ensure action points are delivered upon.
    • Drive the adherence and maintenance of ISO 22 000/ 14 000/ 18000 standards within the Total Integrated Management System throughout Processing.
    • Ensure that documentation required for the Total Integrated Management System is applied consistently throughout Processing.
    • Drive in-process quality control in line with the supply chain and external customer requirements throughout the processing plant.
    • Ensure environmentally sustainable practices are implemented and adhered to and that resource usage is managed effectively (e.g. conservation of water, electricity and gas).

    Maintenance Oversight

    • Ensure that an equipment maintenance programme is formulated and implemented to maintain the working condition of equipment and schedule routine or non-routine maintenance.
    • Monitor the execution of the maintenance programme to guarantee equipment performance as a key enabler of production outputs.

    Financial Management

    • Report and manage all input costs within area of responsibility and manage any over and under spend appropriately to ensure that issues are addressed before significant financial loss occurs.
    • Authorise expenses within area of responsibility and within level of authority and monitor spending activity.
    • Innovate and implement cost containment measures.

    Contract Management

    • Manage contractors and outsourced activity in area of responsibility against standard.

    Project Management

    • Manage project plans in conjunction with project teams.
    • Oversee project implementation in area of responsibility.

    Staff Management

    • Lead Processing teams towards meeting strategy and targets through communication and utilisation of the full talent management system.
    • Manage and deliver on the Processing teams succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders and specialists and ensure optimal turnover and retention levels.
    • Implement Employment Equity within area of responsibility to ensure diversity is achieved at all levels and statutory targets and requirements are met.
    • Identify training needs of the team and liaise with the training department in order to action.
    • Conduct operational meetings and ensure that records are kept and shared amongst all parties and objectives are delivered upon.
    • Manage the employee relations climate and ensure corrective action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and Company policy.

    Commercial Finance Manager

    Job Description

    The RCL FOODS Talent Team is on the hunt for an experienced individual in commercial and financial management to join our Bakery Business Unit. We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded individual who will provide commercial and financial support and insight into the operational and financial performance of the PTA West Bakery Plant, as well as ensure corporate governance compliance.
    Minimum Requirements    

    • Relevant tertiary qualification
    • CA (SA) or CIMA qualified
    • 8+ years’ Operational finance/Commercial experience (post-articles) preferably within an FMCG environment, or in an operational/plant-based environment.
    • Excellent decision making, problem solving, analytical and communication skills required.
    • Syspro experience would be highly advantageous.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Commercial

    • Gather insights and compile monthly management accounting and income statement reports which include variance analysis, key cost drivers and financial performance of the Bakery, highlighting key performance areas.
    • Quarterly planning and forecasting for the Bakery, including capital planning and ROI calculations for proposed business plan projects to assist management with Capex prioritization.
    • Review monthly analysis of costs against prior year/quarterly forecast and investigating variances
    • Continuously consider cost saving opportunities or areas where waste/inefficiencies could be eliminated and influence corrective action by line management
    • Perform profitability analysis by product, channel and route, providing insights and interpreting the impact of key cost drivers on profitability.
    • Overall responsibility for the adherence to Capex process and the relevant Limits of Authority while identifying Capex opportunities to unlock profit of the operations.
    • Review the monthly stock count process/results, control procedures and variances investigated by the Bakery Management Accountant and report on variances including explanations and corrective actions taken.
    • Oversee and review all contracts and advise on financial implications.
    • Review claim payouts and submit the annual insurance declarations for Alexander Forbes.
    • Provide commercial support to the Bakery Management team and assisting with queries where required

    Financial

    • Financial oversight of the Bakery including the financial accounting teams & activities.
    • Ensure company financial policies are complied with and recommend levels of provisions.
    • Maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledger entries according to Group policy and IFRS.
    • Ensure that monthly general ledger reconciliations are completed, and reconciling items resolved timeously.
    • Oversee monthly financial close, ensuring deadlines are met.
    • Review transactional processing (invoices, credit memos, receipt allocations) and implement controls to ensure completeness, validity, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines and minimize losses.
    • Support Vector Bedfordview regarding queries on Debtors accounts and provide solutions.
    • Authorize new suppliers & changes to bank details, before submission to Mill Bake central Finance team.
    • Investigate opportunities to streamline payment runs and improve cash flow management.
    • Responsible for cash management, ensuring cash policies are adhered to, and daily cash requirements are met.
    • Oversee cash forecasting (weekly and daily) as well as spend reporting.
    • Perform the functions associated with being a bank signatory (existing Syspro).
    • Manage fixed assets life cycles ensuring the annual verification process in conducted and movements are transacted timeously.
    • Review VAT “return” before submission to central Finance team.
    • Coordinate year-end processes, review year end provision schedules and packs, including contribution to Tax packs
    • Follow up on audit queries and ensure that corrective action is taken by responsible teams.
    • Ensure compliance with approved procedures by means of control checks performed by the finance team.
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors, managing the year-end audit process to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Ensure compliance with IFRS, Income Tax Act and PPM.

    Staff Management

    • Lead and develop staff within the context of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Skills Development Act.
    • Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback.
    • Manage staff activities including disciplinary action as and when needed, ensuring service levels are met and protocols are adhered to.
    • Manage and deliver on succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders & specialists.
    • Develop a high-performance multidisciplinary teams in order to solve problems within the commercial arena.
