    Sport Reporter - Cape Town,

    Duties & Responsibilities 

    • Create unique content across a range of sporting codes, with a strong focus on Formula 1, to help differentiate News24 Sport from its competitors.
    • Sub-editing content from wire agencies.
    • Writing, editing and publishing of content on assigned sections
    • Selecting of content as or when required by News24 Sport Editor
    • Must be able to stand in for other Content Producers and oversee content production across the site when required.
    • Takes responsibility for quality of content and general appearance of these sections.

    Skills & Competencies 

    • An online journalist with a competitive drive and sound news judgment who does not settle for second best and will ensure best practice on his/her sections of the site.
    • A self-starter with a passion for online content, looking to define him/herself as a member of the team responsible for South Africa's largest online content product.
    • Must have excellent sub-editing & writing skills .
    • Must have the ability to enhance content to ensure best practice presentation of said content on the website.
    • Must be willing to work irregular hours and over weekends & must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Must have an excellent command of the English language.
    • Must be able to communicate well on different levels.
    • Must be able to communicate with diplomacy and tact with consumers.
    • Must be versatile and flexible and adaptable to change.
    • Must be able to perform under pressure.
    • Must be willing to interview people by phone, by e-mail, and in person, perhaps outside the office.

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Tertiary Education preferable (Journalism / Media or Media management preferable.
    • Must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of online news.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent subbing skills.
    • Minimum 5 years of sports journalism experience.

    Senior Sub-editor - Cape Town

    Duties include, among other things:

    • Editing and proofreading copy, with sufficient knowledge to cut it in a meaningful way if necessary;
    • Check correctness of facts, spelling and grammar;
    • Write good captions and headlines that are both attention-grabbing and linguistically and factually correct;
    • Read paper proofs carefully and correct;
    • Translate copy, making sure it is linguistically and factually correct;
    • Make sure copy follows the publication's specific style in terms of grammar, language and preferred spellings; and
    • Stay informed about the latest language rules as contained in the language style guides.

    The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

    • Appropriate tertiary qualifications;
    • Excellent language skills, great word sub and experience in an editorial production environment;
    • Experience in page layout and knowledge of the Eidos system would be a recommendation;
    • At least five years of relevant journalistic experience;
    • A sensitivity to and interest in news and current affairs;
    • Must be able to show own initiative, but also be able to work together in a team; and
    • Must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.

    Journalist: Wellness And Relationships - JHB

    Key responsibilities: (The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)

    •  Generate content for the website by writing, repurposing, researching, editing and publishing copy (when required);
    • Be responsible for the production of wellness, and where required, relationship content for the site
    • May be required to write across all Life pillars on occasion
    • Conduct product reviews for Life sections where necessary
    • Create videos for use on News24's social media and Oovvuu

    Fundraising Account Manager - Cape Town,

    What you will do

    Sponsorship Acquisition:

    • Identify and target potential sponsors aligned with the Cape Town Carnival's brand and values.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to attract and secure sponsors.
    • Build a solid, diversified foundation of corporate, government and donor funding, and encourage bequests.
    • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for sponsorship partnerships.

        2.    Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors, ensuring their continued support and satisfaction.
    • Act as the main point of contact for sponsors, addressing inquiries and providing regular updates on the status of their sponsorship.

    Proposal Development:

    • Create compelling sponsorship proposals tailored to the needs and objectives of potential sponsors.
    • Drive a successful strategy that encourages individuals and corporate organizations to make contributions to projects with Cape Town Carnival
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that sponsorship packages align with the Carnival's goals and objectives.

    Negotiation and Closing:

    • Negotiate sponsorship agreements to achieve mutually beneficial terms.
    • Work closely with legal and finance teams to finalize contracts and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

    Event Activation:

    • Collaborate with sponsors to develop and execute activation plans that maximize their visibility and impact during the Carnival. (within the realms of the CTC parameters on branding).
    • Ensure our organisation’s fundraising tactics have gravitas and credibility and are delivered in a timely, cohesive manner to give partners, supporters and funders the best possible experience and value.
    • Post event or annual reporting to sponsors – presentations, reports, close-out meetings.

    What you will need:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is beneficial.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience and a proven track record in sponsorship sales and/or fundraising is critical for this role.
    • Demonstrated networking ability.
    • The ability to understand the value of Return on Investment for differing partners.
    • Solid understanding of event management and sponsorship trends.
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing a fundraising strategy to drive income growth.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
    • Track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
    • Familiarity with the Cape Town events landscape is advantageous.
