MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- The Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) will practice as clinical assistants within the emergency medical care and rescue environment thereby replacing the Basic Ambulance Assistant Course as the entry qualification into the emergency medical services.
- This position is an entry-level qualification and recognises the key competencies required of Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) who will work under the guidance of Emergency Care Technicians, Emergency Care Practitioners and Medical Officers in a variety of contexts.
- Holders of this qualification will operate mainly in and around the ambulance, within wide ranging contexts, including rural, urban, military, coastal, corporate, mass gatherings, homes and workplaces. In general, the Emergency Care Assistant will provide a supportive service within the pre-hospital context.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- To assess and coordinate emergency vehicles or calls to ensure a timeous response to incidents logged on Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).
- To assist in receiving , prioritise and log emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and to determine the appropriate level of EMS assistance needed to be Dispatched.

- To receive and prioritize emergency & non – emergency telephone calls from the public by dispatching the relevant emergency service providers.
- To deliver world class service to all Mediclinic patients, clinicians and general callers by supporting and fully resolving their queries through various channels, primarily over the telephone
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Answer and transfer incoming calls
- Basic contact centre administration
- Serviving all key stakeholders telephonically and via other servicing channels as required untill the query has been resolved.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Essential: Grade 12/ Matric
- A post-matric 1-year certificate qualification (NQF level 5) in Contact Centre
- Desired: BAA/ Level 3 first aid Certification
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Essential: Contact Centre / Emergency Contact Centre exposure
- 2 years in omnichannel customer service contact centre environment within healthcare or emergency services
- Desired: 1 – 3 years dispatching in an EMS contact centre
