    Industrial Quality Inspector

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    Design and deploy Quality Control Plan per manufacturing process to support reduction of demerits at 0 for Alstom Customer and the Zero Defect Program

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES  

    Accountability & Authorities

    • Manage Industrial Quality activities at site level (IQ team + process + KPI).
    • Manage site PFMEA’s and control plans.
    • Build, implement & regularly update Quality Control Plans with Return of Experience (REX) of previous project execution.
    • Ensure customer approval, documents validation & compliance of the manufactured products before shipping.
    • Car History Book : Develop, maintain and improve car history books contents
    • Perform Line Quality Animation with cross function team.
    • Lead and coach cross functional team members on problem solving methodology.
    • Record inspection results in the industrial tools as required & drive process improvements.
    • Manage internal and external non-conformities.
    • Support manufacturing teams regarding the self-inspection, delegation of control (Training, audit, …) & Position Quality Animation with EPU manager.
    • Support special process maturity
    • Prepare and present weekly and monthly Industrial Quality KPI reports at site and project level.
    • Drive process improvements through problem solving and lean principles
    • Managing the IQ team’s work station audit schedules and analyzing trends.
    • Develop IQ processes as per Project needs.
    • Leading APSYS development.
    • Management of site documentation on the central index.

    Material Planner - Durban

    THE PURPOSE OF THE MATERIAL PLANNER ROLE IS TO:

    Manage the Supplier's portfolio (Internal and/or External suppliers) for ensuring goods delivery at right time and place based on Alstom needs by expediting delivery needs to suppliers and animate the Supplier's delivery performances.  Drive action plan for performance improvement & contribute for risk management.

    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:

    Missions

    • Expedite delivery needs from Suppliers
    • Follow up deliveries and ensure the availability of goods for Alstom projects
    • Monitor Supplier's performances KPI's
    • Participate/lead to Supplier's performances improvement (animation)

    Tasks

    • Internal suppliers: Manage Purchase Requisition flow up to Material Planning documents
    • External suppliers: Follow up with Sourcing the Purchase Requisition level maturity for launching Material Planning documents
    • Ensure and update the accuracy of material planning master data (in compliance with stock and logistic constraints)
    • Create the Material Planning documents (Call-off, Schedule Agreement) & respective Source List
    • Communicate the Material Planning documents to Suppliers and follow Suppliers confirmation
    • Analyze Suppliers confirmations vs. Alstom needs and evaluate the risk/impact anticipation on production/projects
    • Identify priorities associated with risk/impact anticipation and set up recovery actions
    • Maintain a routine with Suppliers in order to check the status of deliveries
      • Analyze and manage MRP (Material replenishment planning) exception messages and anticipate supply problems (backlogs, shortages, no demand…).
      • Maintain delivery dates in ERP (Enterprise resource plan (SAP)
    • Track missing parts until stock availability
    • Ensure non-conformities replacement
    • Resolve Receiving issues (overstock, shortage, damage, documentation, etc.)
    • Analyze and share deliveries performances KPI's with different stakeholders (Internal & External)
      • Collaborate with Material Planning Management/SDPM ( Supplier Development performance Management ) to validate worst Suppliers and define appropriate action plan (adapted governance: LSCA (Light Capability Assessment), LCA, etc...)
    • Apply appropriate communication routine with Suppliers based on their delivery performances
    • Drive and follow (when involved) Supplier Capacity Assessment
    • Drive and follow (when involved) Supplier's Light Capability Assessment (LSCA)
    • Contribute to new business risk assessments and mitigation action plan

    The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements: 

    • Minimum National Diploma in Supply Chain or related discipline
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience in the Supply Chain
    • Railway industry knowledge will be an advantage
    • Knowledge of Material Planning within the Supply Chain scope
    • Experience with ERPs, Supply Chain concepts, processes and continuous improvement,
    • Fluent in English.

    Supplier Quality Manager 1

    Job Purpose

    The (SQ) Supplier Quality Manager ensures the compliance of purchased parts delivered to the Gibela facilities. He/she manages the team of Incoming Inspectors to ensure consistent, accurate and on-time completion of incoming inspection activities. He/she also manages the team of Serial SQ Engineers to ensure  comprehensive supplier non-conformity feedback, containment and corrective actions are implemented quickly to secure the supply of parts to the line. The SQ Manager will further manage the Participating units (PU) quality, Supplier Quality Warranty  and Supplier Product Quality Development (SPQD) management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with SPQD and Incoming Inspectors to ensure Control Plans are defined and registered in the ERP system
    • Ensure inspection instructions/ checklists are defined and available for Incoming Inspectors
    • Establish and manage the process for maintaining and storing records at Incoming Inspection
    • Ensure Incoming Inspectors comply with procedures for inspection, tool calibration, storage of records, non-conformities characterization and ERP transactions
    • Initiate outside special process inspections or outside lab testing when required
    • Supplier Nonconformity Management
    • Secure in containment actions plans to secure the Manufacturing line
    • Ensure complete and efficient Supplier’s root cause analysis and corrective actions to supplier’s non-conformities
    • Establish supplier responsibility and assure the invoicing of Cost of Non-Quality to suppliers (CONQ)
    • Organize supplier retrofits and remedial actions, including storing of vendor work reports and validations.
    • Challenge suppliers to react quickly and correctly identify and rectify root causes of non-conformities to prevent recurrence
    • Ensure effective Supplier’s waivers management for the Site
    • Ensure daily meetings and routines to set priorities and manage daily workload
    • Manage hierarchically the SQ Serial, Incoming Inspection and Supplier Quality Warranty teams
    • Accountable of the performance management cycle of his/her team
    • Prepare and provide the Site SQ Serial reporting based on defined KPI’s and animate teams and suppliers to reach assigned targets
    • Manage Supplier Quality Performances
    • Prepare Reports and supplier Quality Reviews for top level management on top quality issues and action plans including managing the red, yellow status of suppliers with ongoing quality issues
    • Ensure proper Supplier Quality risk management and deploy dedicated mitigation plans
    • Maintain and publish KPIs and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
    • Lead Return of Experience activities on his/her scope of work.

    System Engineer

    Job Purpose:

    • To develop specifications for one or more functions / sub systems which will be designed and implemented on new generation passenger trains.  To lead the engineering studies to reach the required performances for each function/sub system (this includes Requirement Management, calculations and simulations, technical discussions with suppliers and internal departments, defining and executing the type tests on sub system and train level, performing root cause analysis and developing modification proposals).
    • Delegation of TSE, specify one or several train functions, and associated sub-system(s) at train level and lead technically the engineering studies to reach the required performances at train level.
    • On Projects with external suppliers: supervise and validates sub-system selection.
    • Manage Projects. He/she is in charge of project development with suppliers and customer (TSE-TDE-TCE).
    • Perform the Validation activities for part of the train delegated by the TVE during project execution.
    • Write the Train test specifications and procedures

    Key Responsibilities  

    • Performing requirement development based on reference and applicable documents in close collaboration with relevant specialists, local and international Standards, Certification, Safety and Customer requirements.
    • Defining system architecture, operational modes and functions based on external/internal requirements.
    • Performing the specialist field (e.g. EMC, Acoustics, and Fire Protection) requirement allocation to the various subsystems in close collaboration with local and international experts.
    • Performing train system FMECA in coordination with RAMS team.
    • Ensuring consistency and compatibility between all the sub-systems specifications.
    • Writing sub-system specification and architecture description in collaboration with the sub system engineers, other engineering sites and other engineering departments.
    • Supporting the Train System Engineer to define applicable train configurations.
    • Ensuring coordination between Sub Systems, various engineering sites and central engineering on interfaces, performances, technical issues resolution during detailed design phase.
    • Participating in technical meetings with the customer.
    • Working with the sourcing department to write technical product specifications for equipment to be procured, holding technical discussions with suppliers, participating in the supplier development and testing of their products.  To discuss with suppliers about non-performing/non-compliant topics in the warranty phase.
    • Drives technical development of the product until GFV in close relationship with suppliers.
    • Defining and performing Train verification strategy in close collaboration with all Engineering departments, Certification & Validation teams, Train Sub System Team and Participating Units.
    • Writing the train level test specifications and sub system test specifications when needed.
    • Performing integration and tuning on the train.
    • Complete management of technical open issues from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure.
    • Performing reporting at project level and métier level (via weekly reports).
    • Supporting TSE for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan, change order process and QCD optimisation.
    • Prepares DR with suppliers (sub-system/product level) or with TSE (train/product integration level).
    • Manages the technical Sub-System ESLI/RAPR.
    • Ensures that standard key design rules are applied with Platform and Sourcing colleagues.
    • Ensures that the Métiers tools are well applied (connector, costing tool, DRCL ….).
    • Execute activities given by the Train System Engineer (TSE).
    • Update the Validation Plan.
    • Write Train System test procedures.
    • Ensure the timely issuing of the Validation proves (including proves of lower level systems and components) and consolidates Validation files.
    •  Provide structured Return of experience (REX) to feed costing activities, to be implemented in Reference Solutions, and to enrich the CV metier technical repository.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc / B.Eng. in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/ Mechatronics/Electro-Mechanical Degree.
    • Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (preference will be given to candidates with experience in the railway industry).

    Paint Operator - Semi-skilled (Motors)

    Job Purpose

    Painting of the rotor, as well as supporting with the loading and cleaning (resin) of the completed stator frame windings between the VPI (Vacuum & Pressure Impregnation) and the various drying ovens.

    Reporting to the EPU Manager / Group Leader / Production Team Leader

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Mixing solvents and paints according to the described ratio
    • Masking and painting the rotor
    • Loading and unloading the rotor into paint booth
    • Cleaning equipment after use and tidying area in accordance with 5S
    • Performing equipment and tooling self-inspections (blocked filters / nozzles etc.)
    • Checking drying times of the product, according to the VPI special process
    • Loading and unloading the wound stator in the various ovens and VPI according to these drying times
    • Cleaning excess resin from the product and Sorting of waste
    • Adhering to continuous improvement processes and teamwork
    • Complying with all safety rules & regulations
    • Detecting, anticipating and reporting minor manufacturing anomalies, as well as more complex defects
    • Participate in applicable continuous improvement initiatives for motor

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Grade 12 or N3 Certificate
    • Relevant experience within a manufacturing and/or similar environment
    • Previous experience mixing and preparing the paint for application
    • Good knowledge of painting, resin, hot product handling and lifting hazards
    • Able to operate, start and stop the drying / curing ovens
    • Read and interpret technical documents (work instructions, safety instructions, etc.)
    • Able to operate hand power tools, slings, drilling machines, grinders and other hand tools related to the job requirement
    • Have appropriate knowledge of water base paint and solvents base paint
    • Appropriate knowledge on paint equipment settings and controls
    • Understanding of paint defects and rectifications thereof
    • Understand cleaning, masking and preparing paint surfaces
    • Able to use the crane for assembly operations and move the product with pallet trucks

    Facilities and Construction Coordinator

    Job Purpose

    Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and in charge of construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, pipelines, power plants, water and sewage systems, and waste disposal units. Includes architectural, structural, traffic, and geo-technical engineers where Gibela TSSSA operates (clients depot, JV repair centre, own repair centre)

    Be the single point of contact for the construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities across the different locations.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site
    • Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction
    • Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to industrial facilities
    • Day to day management of operations on site, ensuring that the project is brought to a successful completion and meets the required time, budget and quality constraints
    • Ensuring timely management of any unforeseen delays
    • Regular monitoring and liaison with the Contracts Manager/Project Manager
    • Liaise with the Contracts Manager/Project Manager to ensure adequate labour and sub-contract resource are available on site
    • Plan and efficiently organise the site facilities and logistics, ensuring all equipment on site is fit for purpose
    • Request all materials, oversee the deliveries, and ensure they are done so in adequate time in line with the construction Programme and procurement schedule

    • Report the compliance with the contractual obligations by the utilities / PSI suppliers and to manage the action plans and regular reports of the suppliers performance
    • Draft, draw Lay Out, and Specify Technical Devices, Parts, and Equipment -- Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used
    • Propose and implement solutions for costs optimization in relation to utilities and facilities
    • Evaluate Information to Determine Compliance with Standards -- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards
    • Participate into the assessment and selection of suppliers for facility maintenance with adherence to Gibela procurement policies
    • Supervise the reception process for the suppliers that assure the interventions on utilities , buildings and equipment
    • Manage and follow up the optimum functioning of equipment and buildings installations with the utilities and maintenance team
    • Manage the update of data related to equipment in the informatics tools used internally (equipment database)
    • Perform periodic training of subordinate workers, when necessary
    • Supervise, follow-up performance, availability and quality and all major equipment and define KPI`s
    • Manage contractors and vendors relationships:
    • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met
    • Ensure delivery schedules, quantity and quality criteria are met
    • Support Industrial Operations QCD objectives
    • Undertake other duties as specified by the Site & Operations Manager
    • Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies
    • Adhere to Company procedures especially in relation to AZDP and Quality and Health & Safety

    Minimum Requirements

    • B-Tech in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
    • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management will be an added advantage
    • IT literate ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Ms project)
    • English fluency 
    • Prior experience in a supervisory position
    • Knowledge of maintenance systems, technical operations, and building codes and regulations
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    • At least 5 years’ experience in construction site management experience is preferable

    T&C (Testing & Commissioning) Engineering Manager (IN-TT-02_001; IN-TT-02_002)

    Job Purpose

    • To define and deliver Testing and Commissioning procedures, tools and facilities in accordance with customer acceptance criteria

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Manage the development and supply of test procedures, facilities and tools for Rolling stock Test & Commissioning activities

    • Good knowledge in IT tools and smart devices
    • Be familiar with high risk activities in association with Electrical work and EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) requirements
    • Have a good technical level in electrical, electronic, mechanical and networks domains

    Special Requirements

    • The job involves frequent mobility, with work in several depots, and at times on the train corridors.
    • To carry out technical support and maintenance on 24/7 shift & on-call basis (night, day, weekend).
