Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• BEng/BSc Degree in Industrial Engineering (or similar/relevant);
• Based in Centurion, Lyttelton Dolomite Mine
• Willing to travel to various Afrimat sites
• Have own vehicle and driver’s license
• Willing and fast learner, with a self-driven attitude
• More than 5 years’ experience (Mining experience will be advantageous)
• The candidate must be medically fit in terms the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Form part of multiple continuous improvement projects across Afrimat
• Assist in improving operational efficiency across the business
• Implement operational technologies to assist with data gathering
• Ensure fast tracking multiple continuous improvement initiatives
• Attend site meetings to understand system and operational requirements/challenges
• Offer post implementation support and maintenance of operational technologies

The Mechanical Engineer in training will form part of the Afrimat Engineering division and will have the following responsibilities under a Mechanical engineer’s supervision:

• Complete GCC program
• Form part of multiple maintenance improvement projects across Afrimat.
• Attend site meetings to understand operational conditions
• Assist with improving maintenance and availability of mining equipment

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

• Meet with Manager to discuss maintenance/engineering breakdowns
• Must have a broad knowledge of Conveyor Belts, Gearboxes, Fluid drives, Bearings, Pumps, Crushers (54/74 Allis Chalmbers, APKV 0806 Hazemag, Kawasaki Z1500 Cone, HP3 Cone, VSI Crushers) and Screens
• Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools as well as measuring instruments, and reassemble equipment
• Perform other maintenance actions, following checklists
• Assemble, install and/or repair, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Valid drivers license will be an advantage
• N3 Fitting qualification
• 1-2 Years working experience
• Fault finding and repair on mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics
• Knowledge of and applicable skills in plant maintenance, repair and installation of equipment
• Be prepared to work after hours when needed

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

• Planning and executing work in a workshop environment
• Ensuring safe work practices and compliance with all SHE & MHS legislation
• Report faulty equipment and unsafe conditions
• Read and interpret technical drawings
• To ensure that Safety rules and procedures are adhere to, according to the rules and regulations of the workshop and mine

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

• Stockpiles to be placed in demarcated areas according to marks on the rail
• Stockpile floors maintained
• Quality control and correct product on allocated stockpiles by ensuring the material is placed on the right pile
• Stockpile signs to be cleaned with a cloth if the signs are dusty
• Traffic control on tipping areas by alerting trucks and front-end loader operators on the quantities to be offloaded
• Loading and rectifying of train wagons will be required
• Perform any other manual work required on site

• Collect water as required
• Record all collections
• Fill tanks as required
• Dampen roads as directed
• Continually check the gauges of the Water Truck Machine during operation
• Operate the Machine within the manufacture’s specifications and in accordance with standards set during training
• Fill up with fuel as required
• Keep the Machine clean
• General work on site when required (none operating)

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Water Truck, code 14 license and PDP
• 3 years related working experience in the mining industry
• General mechanical knowledge

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

• Supervise and manage the performance of the Siding operators, equipment and processes according to the operating plans and procedures
• Supervise, coordinate, and motivate the Siding team in responsibility
• Good understanding Siding principles and planning
• Coordinate activities of third-party contractors to minimize disruption of Siding processes
• Ensure health and safety legislation and contractual obligations are adhered to
• Ensure complete confidentiality of all information pertaining to the business of the company
• Produce shift reports at the end of every shift

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

• Competent Person A
• NQF level 5 qualification, basic computer skills
• Valid Driver’s Licence. Solid knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, including keeping up to date with any changes to the Act
• Experience supervising and managing operations activities and staff
• First Aid
• Flexibility to work outside of normal hours, during emergencies and planned overtime
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good knowledge of equipment capabilities and operating principles. (Basic operating skills)
