    Professor / Associate Professor - (Grade: P/AP)

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and community engagement, recognizing differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level and contribute to their profession.
    • In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement and contribute towards the institution's governance. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and institutional levels.

    The Requirements

    Associate Professor

    • At least a PhD in Fisheries Science or Aquaculture, or a related field with a strong focus on Aquaculture.
    • Considerable teaching experience in Aquaculture at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience in teaching topics related to Aquaculture, for example, sustainable aquaculture, ecosystems-based aquaculture, aquaculture systems, fish health and nutrition.
    • Research supervision of Master's and PhD degrees to completion.
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publications and evidence of attracting funding.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles.

    Professor

    • At least a PhD in Fisheries Science or Aquaculture, or a related field with a strong focus on Aquaculture.
    • Extensive teaching experience in Aquaculture at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
    • Experience in teaching topics related to Aquaculture, for example, sustainable aquaculture, ecosystems-based aquaculture, aquaculture systems, fish health and nutrition.
    • Research supervision of Master's and PhD degrees to completion.
    • International profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publications and evidence of attracting funding.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles.

    Re Advertisement: Maintenance Stores Controller

    Main Objectives

    • To manage the day-to-day operations and staff of the Maintenance Stores and to provide maintenance supplies to Facilities and Infrastructure, specifically the Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering and Building Maintenance sections.
    • Responsible for issuing and taking orders for required stock items from the various departments as well as the issuing and safekeeping of large equipment and machinery. 

    The Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent PLUS approximately 4 years’ relevant experience, where such experience must include:
    • Previous experience working in a computerized stock control system.
    • Previous experience in stock administration and stock audits
    • At least 2 years’ staff supervision experience
    • Experience implementing stock control systems would be preferred

    Senior Lecturer / Lecturer - (Grade: SL/L)

    Main Objectives

    • Tutoring, facilitation, or conference presentation experience required. Some teaching experience is an added advantage.
    • Ability to teach in some of the following disciplinary areas: Ichthyology and Fisheries Sciences
    • Some research supervision of postgraduate degrees is an added advantage
    • Some research publications are an added advantage.
    • Some administrative experience, albeit in informal contexts (e.g., student or sports clubs), and work experience.

    Senior lecturer

    • At least a PhD in Ichthyology or Fisheries Science, or an equivalent cognate discipline with a focus on Fisheries Science.
    • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required.
    • Experience in teaching some topics related to Ichthyology and Fisheries Science
    • Research supervision of at least Master’s degree level to completion is required.
    • Emerging national profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publications and research grant funding.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).

    Lecturer In The Drama Department

    The Requirements

    • A completed MA or PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies with an emphasis on Directing or Theatre Making.
    • For candidates with an MA: Candidates will be expected to either complete or make reasonable progress in line with the targets and timeframes agreed with the HoD during their probation period, should they be appointed.
    • Evidence of teaching experience is required.
    • A professional artist portfolio demonstrating a minimum of three years’ experience.
    • An ability to teach in the following disciplinary areas: Voice, Acting, Directing, Theory of Theatre and Performance studies.
    • An ability to supervise postgraduate students is required.
    • Some evidence and experience in conducting research. Evidence of creative outputs would be an advantage.

    Readvertising: Psychologist III - Part-Time Position (20 Hours Per Week)

    Main Objectives

    • As a senior member of a team of psychologists and interns in the Counselling Centre, the primary purposes of this job are to provide comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students, provide advice to University staff members in managing students with psychological problems, assist the Manager of the Centre in the supervision and training of intern and qualified psychologists and to deputise for the Manager of the Centre when they are not available.

    The Job Requirements

    • Registration and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist with approximately 5 years’ relevant work experience over and above their internship. 

    Relevant experience includes: -

    • Any work with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one-on-one counselling, group counselling and educational work. 
    • Those individuals with specific experience of working with university students will be at an advantage.
    • An ability to speak other official languages will be an advantage.
    • Individuals who have supervised Counselling Psychologist Interns will be at an advantage.

    Deputy Director: Centre For Social Development

    Main Objectives

    • To support and work closely with the Director of the Centre for Social Development (CSD) in leading and managing the CSD. Responsible for aligning Community Development strategically with the overall strategy of the CSD.
    • The CSD must ensure that the community development function is integrated academically with the institution, the Faculty of Education, and the CSD.

    The Requirements

    At least an Honours Degree relevant to Education, Social or Community Development (Master’s will be an advantage), plus at least 3 years’ relevant field experience, where such experience includes:

    • Early childhood development and/or community development work
    • Management of staff and programmes with a strong track record of delivery
    • Financial management and working with budgets
    • Fundraising with a successful track record in conceptualising new proposals, maintaining productive relations with funders and meeting funding requirements
    • Supervisory experience of at least 3 years at a middle management level
    • Must have a valid driver's license
    • Experience in a non-profit organisation would be advantageous

    IT Support Technician II (Hardware)

    Main Objectives

    • To respond to users’ needs for hardware technical support. The incumbent will be required to provide professional, efficient, and accurate responses to enable university staff with their IT needs and to ensure the financial sustainability of maintaining equipment.
    • The equipment referred to in this job profile primarily includes (but is not limited to) computers, laptops, monitors, printers (including MFPs), scanners, data projectors, and audio-visual equipment.

    The Requirements

    Grade 12 with a relevant IT Technical qualification (such as an A+ or an electronics-specific equivalent) and 4 years’ relevant experience, where such experience includes: -

    • Evidence of working experience in an IT equipment support environment, troubleshooting, diagnosing and problem-solving equipment issues
    • Evidence of working in a Windows user support environment using Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, not just Gmail
    • Evidence of working in a team environment where escalation of open tickets occurs
    • Evidence of working with an electronic ticket tracking system for user IT support queries
    • A warranty repair certification is required
