Superintendent Analysis & Improvement at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of the role is to analyze and improve of supply chain activities within the SAMn Integrated Operations team, identification and delivery/execution? of opportunities to increase value for South32, input into South32 Manganese Strategy and price protocols development of the regional logistics strategy.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree/ National Diploma in commercial / engineering /marketing or finance with a minimum 8 years industry experience with management level exposure to bulk logistics chain management;
• In-depth knowledge of logistics value chain is essential;
• In-depth knowledge of mining valuation is essential.
   

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Monitor the performance of the SAMn logistics supply chain to identify trends and opportunities for improvement;
• Provide support to the Logistics planning and execution team to drive predictable performance and unlock value;
• Lead improvement products to maximise value for South32;
• Lead Due Diligence on third party logistics facilities and channels from time to time in support of operational and marketing requirements. (Commercial contract negotiation is performed by Supply)
• Hold Supply account to deliver savings on service provider contracts;
• Provide logistics infrastructure development and commercial input into directional studies and projects;
• Provide ad hoc commercial support in other commercial transactions as may be required from time to time;
• Identify risks in the Supply Chain and support the Integrated Operations team to close gaps through execution of projects for improvement;
• Provision of monthly market intelligence reports regarding developments within the South African Manganese Industry;
• Annual and as required review of the export capacity of Manganese in South Africa;
• Input into the Marketing supply cost curves and price protocols.
