    Technical Manager

    Job Description

    • To assist the Supervisor/ Laboratory Manager with all supervisory tasks related to the materials testing, whether it’s on site or in the commercial laboratory. The Technical Manager must assist with the checking and signing of the results prior to distribution and assist to implement and maintain the 5S, quality systems and other industry and company requirements.
    • A Technical Manager is responsible to ensure the accreditation and Health and Safety regulations requirements are adhered to in and around the assigned laboratory/ laboratories, including SANAS and 5S.
    • A Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring the correct test methods are followed.
    • A Technical Manager is responsible to adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • A Technical Manager is responsible to assist the technicians and reporting staff with any job whether it is on site or inside the commercial laboratory as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor /laboratory manager.
    • A Technical Manager has the responsibility to stand in for commercial laboratory managers when needed.
    • A Technical Manager is to ensure all mandatory training are completed timeously.
    • A Technical Manager is to manage any and all disciplinary procedures, communication and training.
    • A Technical Manager is to assist with any and all quotations and tenders requested by the reporting manager.
    • A Technical Manager is responsible for liaison with clients for receiving job instruction.
    • A Technical Manager is to do the final checking and approval of report prior to issue to client.
    • A Technical Manager is responsible to perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
    • A Technical Manager is to verify calibration of equipment according to schedule.
    • A Technical Manager is to carry out corrective actions as necessary.
    • A Technical Manager is train personnel as and when required.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Grade 12 / NQF4 or an additional three years relevant experience for each year of schooling below grade 12.
    • Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering and/or proven years of laboratory, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through - Recognition of Prior Learning.
    • Proficiency in various types of computer software (full MS office package Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in managing an Industrial related Business.
    • Experienced to manage the human resources aspects of the business.
    • Experienced to manage the commercial and financial aspects of the business.
    • Experience in managing the business development aspect of the business.

    Sub-Contractor - HACCP Hygiene and Food Safety Auditor

    Job Description

    Primary Responsibilities

    • In conjunction with the business strategy set by the Divisional Business Manager and Operations Manager, visit the scheduled audit site/s communicated by the planners with the objective to assess site conditions prevailing in accordance with the provided audit standard to determine the level of compliance or non-compliance as the case may be, completing a site visit report and if required sample food products and taking of environmental food contact surfaces swabs for microbiological analysis and submission of same to the laboratory for testing/analysis in accordance with established SOP and defined Business procedures and provide all necessary pre and post audit support required to operations associated with all audit activities and report writing.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Visit scheduled and identified assessment sites for the site assessment and or sampling, in accordance with the audit schedule provided by planning.
    • Conduct the site assessments and sampling in compliance with global SOP policies and procedures.
    • Perform all duties in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity, Policies, and Procedures.
    • Issue and prepare accurate assessment reports, after assessment visits and load assessment reports on the audit assessment platform.
    • Actively respond to any customer complaints and queries that are raised during and after the assessment process.
    • Retain sufficient audit evidence for future reference purposes.
    • Partake in any planned audit conference, calibration, or associated training sessions.
    • Comply with any company and client specific KPI requirements specified and in particular, meeting specified report turnaround times.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Degree/diploma in food science, quality, related major or equivalent (food-related discipline).
    • Food safety-related training (not mandatory) or Auditor qualification training (not mandatory).
    • Internal Training – CATS and TOTAL Auditor Training.
    • Computer Literate.
    • Working knowledge of Regulatory Food Safety Laws, Rules and Regulations, applicable to the country of retail.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years food related industry consulting, working, auditing experience.
    • >6 months experience in food safety/hygiene audits.
    • Strong service industry background.
    • Client and supplier liaison.

    Sales Consultant – Medical Devices

    Job Description

    Primary Responsibilities

    • The Sales Consultant will be a member of the Business Assurance Division. In conjunction with the business strategy set by the Business Assurance Business Manager and Sales Manager, grow all service offerings offered within the Business Assurance business unit. This will include but is not limited to certification, training, customized audits and technical consultancy, by pro-actively and re-actively, selling and promoting the product ranges on offer, to all industry sectors in South Africa, with the prime objectives of meeting the divisional budget by obtaining new clients and growing the portfolio of existing clients.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Sales consultant for ISO 13485 certification quality management systems for medical device manufacturers and distributors
    • Perform all duties in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity.
    • Compliance to all relevant SGS Business Assurance South Africa operational quality policies and procedures.
    • Familiarization with audit and certification processes and practices.
    • Implement the divisional Sales Plan, supported by KPI’s.
    • Promoting all service offerings within the Business Assurance Unit.
    • Ensure targets for proposals, client’s visits, sales of new clients and sales revenue for Business Assurance are achieved.
    • Proposal follow-up on all proposals in accordance with divisional Sales policies and procedures.
    • Becoming familiar and conversant with Sales Prospecting as per the SGS Business Assurance policies and procedures.
    • Appropriate use and handling of Client Data/Proposal/Service Offer Worksheets.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Target growth on the different industry sectors to increase industry mix.
    • Promote the image, capability and integrity of SGS to our clients.

    Qualifications

    Education 

    • Proficient on MS Office, especially with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel programs
    • Matric

    Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years sales experience coupled with good industry knowledge and proven sales track record / performance explicitly for ISO 13485 certification quality management systems for medical device manufacturers and distributors
    • Customer face to face meetings, client and supplier liaison experience
    • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Superb organizational skills
    • Ability to multi-task and handle several issues simultaneously
    • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when dealing with escalated issues
