    Medical Officer Grade 1-3 Radiology

    Requirements :

    • Minimum Requirements: Grade I Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with HPCSA as a Medical Officer. No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
    • Grade II Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
    • Grade III Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer.

    Duties :

    Assistant Director- Clinical Technologist

    Requirements :

    • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPSCA as Clinical Technologist. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026 as a Clinical Technologist in Cardiology.

    Ultrasound Radiographer / Sonography

    Requirements :

    Clinical Programme Coordinator – Quality Assurance

    Requirements :

    • Diploma/Degree in nursing (R425) qualification or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional/Registered Nurse. Current Registration with SANC as Professional/Registered Nurse.

    Medical Specialist – Plastic And Reconstructive Surgery

    Requirements :

    • MBChB, MMed (Surg) or FCS(SA). A valid registration with the HPCSA as an independent Medical Specialist.

    Duties :

    • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery case load management including surgical clinics, wards and theatre. The incumbent must be willing to render services at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Kalafong and Tembisa Hospitals.

    Medical Specialist – Obstetrics & Gynaecology

    Requirements :

    • National Senior Certificate/ Matric and MBCHB or equivalent qualification and FCOG (SA) or equivalent that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and current annual registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist.     • Grade 3: Appropriate Qualification in the relevant discipline that allows registration as a Medical Specialist with HPCSA plus 10 years after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist.
    • Foreign candidates require 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with recognized foreign health professional council, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service

    Duties:

    • Render, organise and oversee inpatient and outpatient services in general gynaecology, gynaecologic oncology, and complicated pregnancy especially abnormal placentation.
    • Coordinate and render pre-operative, operative and post-operative assessment, management and referral of women with gynaecologic cancer and complex gynaecologic conditions.     Head Of The Department Surgery

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Surgery. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026.
    • A minimum of three (3) years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist in Surgery. Experience of training registrars in General Surgery. Training of Fellows in the various sub-specialities of General Surgery will be an advantage. Experience in research, administration, management and finance is desirable.

Active participation in administrative duties of the department which include planning, budgeting, PMDS, student assessments and research.     • To collaborate and assist the Director of Clinical Services at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and the Cluster Hospitals whenever needed, in service delivery, teaching and training as an outreach programme. Ensure that appropriate, ethical, and quality research is performed in the department as part of a wider agenda to explore improvements in health care in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital region and South Africa as a whole with publication of the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
    • As part of the University’s responsibility, ensure sufficient and high-quality teaching be provided to undergraduate students, postgraduates students and Fellows. Participate in the Fellowship examinations of the College of Surgeons of South Africa and assist the HPCSA in its accreditation of Surgery care provision in the cluster. Ensure the employment of the previously disadvantaged individuals in terms of race, gender, and disability to enhance equity.

    Requirements :

    • MBChB degree. M. Med (Orthopaedics) or FC (Ortho) SA. A valid registration with the (HPCSA) as an Orthopaedic surgeon and current of registration with the HPCSA.

    • Rotate through related departments at various hospitals served in their specific outreach programs. Preparing and writing reports. Assist the Clinical Head with Administration responsibilities.

    Medical Specialist Grade 1/2/3 Anaesthetics

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a Anaesthetics. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist. Current registration for 2025/2026.

    Requirements :

    • For Grade1. 0- 5 years’ experience as Medical Specialist.

    Duties :

    • Administrative duties within the Department of Intensive Care. Delivery of clinical services to critically ill patients. Foster and co-ordinate a multidisciplinary approach to the management of critically ill patients.
    • Co-ordinating logistics of ordering and obtaining equipment and pharmaceuticals 4Involvement in hospital committees and liaison with other departments within the hospital. Participate in the functions of the Critical Care Society of Southern Africa that governs the development and management of Intensive Care in South Africa.
    • Staff training theoretical and skills performance of junior doctors and allied medical disciplines at Tertiary and referring hospitals. Development and ongoing provision of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assessment.
    • Policy development and implementation. Provision of clinical support and outreach programs. 
    • To participate, support and promote research relevant to Critical Care Medicine. Ability to initiate and conduct research will be an advantage. Be a role model for students and staff. Participate in all divisional, departmental and faculty meetings in order to facilitate effective teaching and research as well as to enhance continuing professional development. Perform duties assigned by the Head of Department of Health. Maintain quality assurance standards and other Departmental policies.
