    Clinical Programme Coordinator – Occupational Health & Safety

    Requirements :

    • Diploma/Degree in nursing (R425) qualification or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional/Registered Nurse with midwifery.
    • Current Registration with SANC as Professional/Registered Nurse.
    • A minimum of 7 years appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. A post basic Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing Science.
    • A Nursing Administration or Health Services Management will be an added advantage(refer to Personnel Circular Letter 04 of 2024)., Primary Health Care Nursing will be an added advantage.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety program. Customer Services, Standards Compliance. Knowledge of related Guidelines and Health Regulations, Policies and Acts.
    • Computer Literacy (i.e. MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel). Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary context. Analytical thinking, independent decision- making and problem-solving skills. The following will be added advantage. Good communication skills, report writing skills, facilitation skills, coordination skills, planning and organizational skills, problem solving skills, information management skills.

    Duties :

    • Manage the Operational requirements of the OHS office. Conduct Health Surveillance and Monitoring, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Development and Implementation of Health and Safety Programs, Health Education and Promotion, Case Management and Return-to-Work Programs, Ergonomics and Injury Prevention programs, Counseling and Psychosocial Support, Regulatory Compliance and Record Keeping, Emergency Response, Research and Program Evaluation, Advocacy. Develop an SOP aligned to the Strategic Plan and collaborate with other cadres to implement strategies to achieve targets.
    • Develop clinical quality improvement plan (QIP), guidelines and indicators with regards to complaints.
    • Promote OHS compliance, implementation of National Guidelines. Collate monthly, quarterly and annual OHS reports and consolidate into a comprehensive report of the hospital. Monitor compliance with OHS Indicators as per Annual Performance Plan. Analyse data, establish and monitor trends.
    • Plan and facilitate relevant trainings on OHS program. Liaise and advise on effective communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders. Maintain constructive working relationship with staff, multidisciplinary team and other stake holders. Demonstrate an understanding of legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
    • Perform clinical nursing practice and promote quality nursing care in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the SANC. Provision of quality patient care through adherence to set standards, policies and procedures. Uphold Batho-Pele Principles and Patient’s Rights Charter.
    • Work within Functional Business Unit (FBU) of the institution (internally and externally) including ABT. Effective utilisation of resources. Participation in training and research.
    • Maintenance of professional growth, ethical standards and self-development and that of subordinates in line with SANC CPD framework. Compliance to confidentiality. Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (Contracting, reviews and final assessment).
