    Learner Law Enforcement Officers (LLEO)

    Minimum requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent Law Enforcement / Peace Officer qualification (qualification must be recognized for South African Police Peace Officer declaration, minimum of 6 weeks training) successfully completed at an accredited training institution South African citizen with a valid ID No criminal record [vetting required] and appointment is subject to police clearance Code B Driver's license Physical Fitness Must reside in the jurisdiction of the municipality.
    • Other Requirements: Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans / English / isiXhosa - read, write and speak) Good human relations, communication and interpersonal skills Conflict handling skills High level of responsibility and discipline Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays when operationally required.
    • This is a permanent entry-level operational post within the Law Enforcement environment and not a learnership program.

    Added Advantage:

    • 1 - 2 years relevant experience in a Law Enforcement, Security, SAPS or Traffic environment and

    Firearm proficiency.

    • Duties will entail: Assist with the enforcement of municipal by-laws within the Saldanha Bay Municipal area Support operational activities of the Section: Policing and Law Enforcement Assist with patrols, inspections and monitoring of municipal infrastructure, public spaces and facilities Receive and log complaints or incidents and ensure that they are communicated to operational personnel Assist with monitoring CCTV systems, communication equipment and incident reporting systems where required Support joint operations with SAPS, Traffic Services and other law enforcement partners
    • Assist with crowd management and safety monitoring during municipal events or emergency situations Assist with monitoring and enforcement of municipal by-laws relating to waste management and illegal dumping Record incidents, patrol activities and operational information in official occurrence books, registers and reporting systems Participate in operational briefings, debriefings and training activities Perform any other law enforcement related duties as reasonably required.

    Operational Deployment:

    • The successful candidates will be deployed within the Section: Policing and Law Enforcement according to operational requirements. Deployment may include patrol operations, Control Room functions, municipal facility monitoring, infrastructure protection, and support to integrated law enforcement operations within the Saldanha Bay Municipal area.

    Law Enforcement Officer

    Minimum requirements:

    Duties will entail:

    • Conduct visible patrols and respond to community safety incidents within the municipal area Enforce municipal by-laws and applicable legislation Attend to public complaints and service requests relating to public nuisance, illegal dumping, informal trading and other by-law transgressions Issue warnings, notices and compliance actions in accordance with municipal enforcement procedures
    • Participate in integrated operations with SAPS, Traffic Services and other municipal departments Perform crime prevention support duties through high visibility patrols and hotspot interventions
    • Compile incident reports, pocketbook entries and operational documentation Ensure the safe handling and proper use of municipal vehicles, equipment and uniforms Provide professional service delivery in accordance with the Municipality's Code of Conduct.

    Inspector: Community Safety Section: Policing and Law Enforcement

    Minimum requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Matric / National Senior Certificate) 2-3 years relevant operational experience in one or more of the following environments:
    • Law Enforcement / Peace Officer environment
    • Community safety or crime prevention operations
    • By-law enforcement and compliance monitoring
    • Valid Code B Driver's License No criminal record (appointment subject to vetting and screening) Physically and medically fit to perform operational duties
    • Must reside in the jurisdiction of the municipality.

    Other Requirements:

    • Proficiency in at least two (2) of the three official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans / English / isiXhosa - read, write and speak) Good communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to liaise effectively with community structures, law enforcement agencies and municipal departments Ability to compile reports, maintain records and provide operational feedback Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team Good organisational and coordination skills Willingness to work outside normal working hours, including evenings or weekends, when required for community engagements or safety operations Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and administrative functions.
    • Added Advantage: Knowledge of community safety frameworks and municipal safety strategies Previous experience in community safety coordination, crime prevention programs or public safety initiatives Experience working with Community Policing Forums (CPF), Neighborhood Watches or similar community safety structures Experience in coordinating operational deployments or leading safety initiatives Knowledge of municipal by-laws and law enforcement processes Experience in compiling operational reports, incident documentation or program monitoring reports.

    Duties will entail:

    • Coordinate and support the implementation of community safety initiatives in line with the Municipal Safety Plan Facilitate collaboration between the municipality and key safety stakeholders including SAPS, Community Policing Forums, Neighbourhood Watches and other community structures Coordinate community safety programmes and awareness initiatives aimed at crime prevention and improved public safety
    • Monitor safety concerns and trends within communities and assist with the development of appropriate interventions Support operational planning and implementation of crime prevention initiatives and integrated safety operations Attend and manage complaints, incidents and operational tasking as required Compile reports, maintain documentation and provide feedback on community safety initiatives and operational activities Assist with enforcement and compliance activities where operationally required Represent the municipality at community safety meetings, forums and stakeholder engagements.

    General Assistant: Cemeteries

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 6, 6 months relevant municipal cemetery experience 
    • Good communication skills in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

    Duties will entail:

    • Perform garden maintenance in cemeteries
    • Lay out new gardens in cemeteries
    • Erection and repairs to fencing at cemeteries
    • Digging of graves
    • Planting of steel and concrete grave boxes
    • Application of herbicide.

    Digger Loader Operator

    Minimum requirements:

    • Grade 9 1-2 years relevant digger loader / tipper truck experience Valid Code C1 driver's licence with valid PRDP Good communication skills in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

    Duties will entail:

    Process Assistant Laingville

    Minimum requirements:

    • Grade 12 or relevant post matric qualification/preferably NTC2 in wastewater or water treatment 1-2 years relevant experience required Valid Code B driver's licence.

    Duties will entail:

    • Clearing and unblocking inlets, outlets, valves, tank weirs, screens, filters and connections, removing debris using handheld tools (shovel, fork, etc.) and pressurized water systems to remove/flush blockages Applying laid down guidelines respect of the removal and temporary storage of debris to avoid health related risks while awaiting removal from site Picking up litter and/or other items within the vicinity and/or sweeping walkways and common areas
    • Attending to the safekeeping of hand tools used in the process , applying laid down instructions and guidelines to avoid theft or loss and returning to the store at the end of the day Clearing sludge drying beds using hand tools and depositing the material on the ground, into a dumper or the bucket of a front-end loader Terrain maintenance - Ensure grass is kept neat and short, trim grass edges using weed cutters and Kudu lawn mowers
    • Ensure WWTW is clean, housekeeping is in order, equipment is packed and stored away Sweeping floors and hoeing surrounding open areas using a spade, broom, rake, etc. gathering, picking and transferring litter into refuse collection bags Removing and replacing refuse bags form collection and/or attends to the loading/offloading of refuse bags into/from refuse vehicles Driving duties while packing up and transporting shift staff.
