    Medical Sub-Specialist: Paedatrics Neonatology (Universitas Hospital)

    REQUIREMENTS :

    • Matric and appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Paediatrics (Paediatric Neonatology). Current registration with the HPCSA (2026/2027). Be a South African Citizen or a permanent resident.

    Experience.

    • Grade 1: No experience after registration with the HPCSA AS Medical Specialist in Paediatric Neonatology.

    DUTIES :

    • Provide specialised diagnostic and therapeutic services in Paediatric Neonatology. Manage complex and referred cases that require advanced knowledge beyond general practice.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
    • Participate in clinical ward rounds, outpatient consultations and evidence-based practice.
    • Conduct clinical audits, mortality, morbidity and monitoring and evaluating relevant clinical effectiveness indicators.

    Requirements :

    Duties :

    • Co-ordinate, manage and administer efficient and cost-effective anaesthesia services at the institution. Encourage and foster research within the department. Manage and monitor appropriate and relevant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training within anaesthesia. Foster appropriate subspecialty development within the department.
    • Promote staff development and where possible to further the aims of the faculty of sciences and the department of anaesthesia. Encourage collaboration between the departments within the teaching complex.

Participate in university academic management activities, including membership of committees in the Faculty of Health Sciences as a whole and in the university’s Department of Anaesthesia. Lead and participate in national and international efforts to advance aspects of Anaesthesia, both in research and advocacy.
    • Examine and provide examiners for degree and diploma programmes and fellowships in anaesthesia in other universities and colleges in South Africa.
    • Ensure that appropriate, ethical and quality research is performed in the department as part of a wider agenda to explore improvements in healthcare in the hospital area and South Africa as a whole, with publication of the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

This joint academic, full-time, permanent appointment requires the Head of Clinical Unit to provide leadership for critical care services across the hospital and academic platforms.
    • The role includes ensuring high-quality, evidence-based intensive care, strengthening clinical governance, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring adherence to national policies, safety standards, and ICU protocols.

    Medical Registrar (Radiology) (RMMCH)

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
    • Current registration with the HPCSA for 2026/2027 as an independent medical practitioner.
    • Must be post community service. Must have Diploma/Part 1 in relevant department.
    • Department relevant courses and working experience in the relevant department will be an advantage.
    • Training opportunities are inter alia available in Radiology Department.

    Duties :

    • The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participating in departmental audit activates, preparing and writing of reports, liaison and communication services and community liaison.
    • Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns and community service doctors). Willing to do commuted overtime. Attendance of relevant administrative meeting like mortality meetings, near miss meeting and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g. Death certificate). Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards).
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team to the management of patients. Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures and ward rounds. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department.
    • Rendering of after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Registrars will inter alia be responsible for rending of clinical services, assessment and treatment of patient, Registrar will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes.
    • Registrars will be appointed jointly between the Gauteng Provincial Government and the following tertiary institutions: University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).
