    Responsibilities

    • Conduct pre-feasibility studies of tourism development opportunities.
    • Engage in SANParks’ strategy to diversify the tourism product range.
    • Engage with National Treasury to initiate projects and to ensure that models being implemented are optimal.
    • Actively engage role players to ensure detailed bid specifications, compilation of tender documents, facilitation of various steps in the process such as bidders conferences, tender evaluation and presentation to the bid adjudication committee, EXCO, audit and risk committee of the Board and the SANParks Board.     X8 Seasonal General Workers (Fixed-Term Contract)

    • Vacancies currently exist for eight (8) Seasonal General Workers for a fixed term period of three (3) months at the West Coast National Park. Reporting lines will be to the Section Ranger and Duty Manager. The successful candidates will have to provide their own accommodation as there is no official accommodation in the park.
    • The focus and conditions of this vacancy is targeting persons from Langebaan, Vredenburg, Hopefield, Saldanha, St. Helena Bay and Paternoster communities.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 (matric) or NCV level 4 certificate or equivalent.
    • 1 – 2 years of general work experience or related work.
    • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Knowledge of First Aid.
    • Must be fit and able to work long hours on your feet with exposure to the elements (i.e. sun, rain and windy climatic conditions).
    • Will be required to work weekends and all public holidays with occasional overtime as required.
    • SARS Tax Reference Number.
    • Clear Criminal Record.
    • Proficiency in English and one other official language.
    • Punctual and responsible.

    The following will be an added advantage:

    • A valid driver’s licence.

    Responsibilities

    • General maintenance and upkeep of the terrain and gardens including visitor accommodation, day visitors’ facilities and access control points.
    • Perform cleaning duties including ablution blocks, picnic sites and day visitor’s area to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
    • Manage customer expectations and address customer needs.
    • Empty trash bins, relace trash bins, and ensure proper waste disposal.
    • Assist with admission management at the R27 Entrance Gate and at the Langebaan Entrance Gate.
    • Assist with even setup (guided walks, braai areas, educational activities).
    • General maintenance duties including the inspection, repair, cleaning and replacement of
    • watering system and sewerage systems at visitor facilities; braai sites and parking areas.
    • Assist with inventory control (cleaning supplies, guest amenities)
    • Perform daily services throughout the park providing a clean, safe and pleasant environment for staff and visitors.
    • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries and stationary.
    • Report maintenance issues and breakages (leaks, broken furniture and equipment, electrical faults, etc.)
    • Assist with law enforcement duties, including participating in regular patrols.
    • Follow health and safety regulations and best practice to prevent accidents and contamination.
    • Housekeeping functions – refuse removal, cleaning of conservation areas & picnic sites.
    • Handle and store equipment properly (i.e. cleaning machines and equipment).
    • Assist with basic traffic management and parking of vehicles.
    • Disseminate visitor information and assist with basic queries.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager.

    Officer: Human Capital Management (Performance Management)

    Requirements

    • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
    • Degree qualification in HR or Social Science will be an added advantage.
    • 2 – 4 years’ experience in a similar HCM role.
    • Valid Code B driver’s license. (Added advantage),
    • Strong computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc).
    • Knowledge of HR legislation (BCEA, EE, LRA, Skills Development act, etc.).
    • Experience with HR systems (e.g. SAGE 300).
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills.
    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle confidential matters.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure integrity of employee data on SAGE300, People Management Module, and PM SharePoint folder to ensure that information is captured correctly.
    • Compile and submit monthly Performance Management stats reports.
    • Prepare and update ESS/SharePoint Weekly and Monthly reports to the Senior Manager Performance Management.
    • Consolidate and update information for performance management.
    • Ensure compliance through periodic audits and accurate data management.
    • Conduct quality checks on all performance agreement, reviews before uploading on the SharePoint system.
    • Update the PM database and provide accurate and reliable statistics when required.
    • Consolidate weekly and monthly updates from the Staff Establishment and update PM.
    • Ensure alignment of performance management standards on performance agreements/work plans and reviews.
    • Capture all updated performance data ratings/scores to the PM system.
    • Consolidate and update the submission of work plans and performance agreements to divisions allocated to.
    • Contribute to the development, review, and maintenance of the performance management system and processes.
    • Render a human resource advisory service to the management of the Department by investigating, analysing, benchmarking, and interpreting legislation, prescripts, and other human resource-related issues to promote an effective human resource environment.
    • Prepare the Regional Moderations packs in preparation of the moderation sittings.
    • Compile minutes and all administrative activities for the Unit.
