    Station Administrator: Lotus FM (12661)

    Key Accountabilities

    • Provide support to management and accurately capture discussions around the development and implementation of the channel’s business strategy.
    • Capture ALL strategic documents of the station and file them accordingly.
    • Plan, organize and control administrative activities pertaining to the specific area of operation.
    • Prepare participants for strategy engagements – create templates, guidelines, and briefs.
    • Manage the value chain around sourcing of new freelance contracts.
    • Processing of freelance payments.
    • Processing of supplier payments.
    • Facilitate travel bookings, process S&T and KM claims for reimbursement for staff and management team.
    • Handle general queries relating to payments and administration of the station.
    • Co-ordination of manager’s diary - internal & external meetings.
    • Timeous and accurate preparation and management of documentation.
    • Development and effective management of a filing system - electronically and manually to ensure easy retrieval of information and all records.
    • Ensuring that all sensitive documents and or information are appropriately secured.
    • Draft memos, minutes and monthly reports.
    • Arrange venues and refreshments for meetings. 
    • Accurately taking minutes and ensuring accurate typing of all correspondence and proof reading of official documents in a professional manner
    • Coordination of meeting, farewell, workshops, refreshment and venues.
    • Coordinate the station visits and direct them to the destinations.

    • Adhere to South Africa’s Constitution, all broadcasting and other legislation, Icasa regulations, the BCCSA Code of Conduct, SABC editorial policies and radio news and current affairs style guide etc.
    • Assist the development and ensure implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
    • Respond to risk imperatives to protect organizational integrity, create value, prevent financial loss and ensure compliance with applicable policies and legislations.

    Requirements:

    • Matric and Certificate in Office Management/Administration or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 5)
    • 3 years’ experience in administration environment
    • Proficiency in SAP system
    • Basic understanding of broadcasting industry and media
    • Filing system development and management
    • Basic finance principles and PFMA understanding
    • Minute taking Computer literacy (various office applications)

    News Assignment Editor (12912)

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Identify and initiate news stories for SABC News and ensure that they are properly resourced.
    • Contribute to regional and national news diaries and attend editorial meetings.
    • Monitor the development and progress in the processing of stories throughout the day in consultation with journalists and technical staff (Line records)
    • Ensure that journalists deliver high-quality content and meet set deadlines for various SABC News programmes.
    • Continually brief and debrief journalists on editorial content of news stories and requirements.
    • Assign journalists according to their strengths and competencies for the best output.
    • Provide quality control function for focus, script, and sound in the production of news stories.

    • Carry out evening shift duty as per newsroom requirements and roster responsibilities.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma / NQF 6 in Journalism or equivalent qualification.
    • 8 years of editorial and writing experience

    • Extensive knowledge of the relevant systems and broadcasting operations.

    • Contribute (technical) submissions to Divisional Strategy in alignment with the Corporate Plan and the Target Operating Model.

    Executive Producer: On-Point1 (12930)

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Identify, commission, and assign news and current content based on strength, quality, depth, and newsworthiness in accordance with the public mandate and SABC News’ editorial and strategic objectives.
    • Take final responsibility for the editorial quality of the shows.
    • Account for overall audience performance of the programme.
    • Review and adjust programming to the changing needs of audiences.
    • Ensure that all programming adheres to the SABC Editorial Policies regarding the plurality of voices and diversity of views.
    • Make use of interactive screens, infographics, and audiovisual collages to enhance the quality of programming.
    • Ensure balance and fairness in the content and representation of multiple perspectives.
    • Ensure that shows are properly planned and well-thought out ahead of time.
    • Ensure that all interviews are published and prominently promoted on digital platforms ahead of transmission.
    • Create opportunities for viewer engagement during the programmme through digital platforms, call-ins and on-screen.
    • Plan and coordinate Outside Broadcasts, panel discussions and townhalls on issues of public concern in accordance with the public mandate.
    •  Check and ensure that all audiovisual material meets all broadcast compliance requirements before transmission.

    Requirements:

    • Diploma/ Degree  NQF6/7 preferably in Journalism/Media Studies/Communication or equivalent disciplines.
    • 6 years’ proven experience in economic broadcast news and current affairs environment, including 3 years’ in an editorial/ supervisory position.
    • Understanding of broadcasting and publishing regulations and legislation.
    • Advanced understanding of public broadcasting principles.
    • Excellent command of both written and spoken language.
    • Exceptional writing skills, news sense attention to detail.
    • Advanced knowledge and understanding of platform-specific news and current affairs production processes and systems.
    • Planning, budgeting and executing special broadcasts and project.
    • Project management.
