    Philanthropy Manager-DAD

    Requirements:

    • A relevant NQF7 qualification.
    • At least 5 years relevant industry experience.
    • Major and principal gift fundraising experience.
    • Experience in successful and substantial fundraising campaigns.
    • A demonstrated record of success in planning and managing fundraising strategies from inception to completion and delivered on target.

    Advantageous:

    • Experience in higher education fundraising.
    • Experience in international fundraising.

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement strategies to secure philanthropic funding.
    • Develop and maintain a compelling program of giving opportunities in support of strategic priorities, working across the university and programme staff.
    • Manage a personal pool of National and International prospects to cultivate and advance relationships to secure major and principal gifts.

    Requirements:

    Research Coordinator, AFRICA CMM Unit

    Requirements for the job:

    • Postgraduate degree in Biological/Health Sciences
    • Two years’ experience working in academic or biomedical research settings
    • Proven track record to include at least two of the following proficiencies: academic grant reporting, budget management and research compliance documentation
    • Demonstratable experience in research project or lab management including ability to prioritize and to schedule workloads
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with academic staff at all levels
    • Proficiency in fulfilling committee secretary role e.g. preparing agendas, taking minutes, timeous compilation and circulation of action points

    The following will be advantageous:

    • MSc or PhD degree, experience with social media, working with international stakeholders

    Responsibilities:

    • Act as the central point of contact between PIs, research staff, external collaborators, clinical partners, and funding bodies.
    • Produce project progress reports to the Unit’s management team, internally within the University as well as for the MRC CMM in Exeter and other external funders as required.
    • Provide administrative support for the Unit’s Directorate and Management Board and support the Unit’s management by providing general coordination support, organising and recording meetings, preparing and providing the appropriate documentation and records for meetings.
    • Drive staff and student recruitment for the Unit, when necessary.
    • Assist with budgeting, ethics submissions, and regulatory documentation
    • Coordinate and promote the Unit’s Public Outreach and engagement activities, maintenance of the Unit’s website and social media.
    • Identify sources of funding for the sustainability of the Unit in the longer term and signpost to appropriate colleagues and academics to enable the development of proposals, as appropriate.

    Lecturer Dept of African Feminist Studies

    REQUIREMENTS

    • PhD or a PhD currently under examination in a Humanities-based discipline, with strong demonstrable expertise in African feminist histories and debates in queer politics and/or sexuality studies
    • Subject matter expertise in politics of African queer studies and sexuality studies
    • At least 3 years of experience as a researcher committed to engaging questions of African feminisms, queer politics, sexuality studies and related continental intellectual trajectories
    • Experience of at least 2 years in academic teaching, where African queer politics and/or sexualities have been a core part of the work
    • Experience of academic administration
    • An emerging record of relevant publications
    • An emerging profile of continental academic, networking and research work
    • A record of community-engaged activist work
    • A commitment to strengthen and build the Department of African Feminist Studies and the AGI within UCT and beyond

    ADVANTAGEOUS:

    • A record of academic work which bears witness to transdisciplinary interests
    • Experience in digitally based engagement with intellectual work
    • An interest in deepening discourse and practice on the decolonial within South African higher education
    • Some experience of fund-raising, to support research interests which include those of postgraduates
    • Fluency in more than one South African language as a language of research/teaching

    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

    • A Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Higher Education, or equivalent,
    • Evidence of a contribution to institutional educational development initiatives,

    Human Resources Business Partner, Client Services, Human Resources

    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST:

    • An NQF level 6 in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology or related field.
    • At least five (5) years generalist human resources experience.
    • Demonstrable experience within a business partnering environment.

    • Provide strategic partnering, change management and operational expertise to the Faculty/PASS Department.
    • Build and maintain constructive relationships with Line Managers, staff, internal and external HR partners.
    • Provide leadership and guidelines to the Faculty/PASS leadership about Human Resources strategy, policies, and implementation.
    • Advising, coaching and supporting Line Managers and staff on the full range of HR functions and services such as: performance management, recruitment and selection, job evaluation, remuneration and benefits, induction, development and training, staff wellness, organizational design and academic probation – to ensure consistency with relevant legislation and UCT HR policy and procedures.
    • Advise Line Managers on Employee Relations policy, process, and procedure as it pertains to disciplinary, grievance, restructuring, incapacity, conciliation, mediation, arbitration, and compilation of evidence required for all these processes.
    • Proactively managing projects and change management initiatives.
    • Undertake specific projects, in consultation with Line Management, to facilitate HR activities and enhance client service.
    • Provide timeous and relevant HR management information, data analytics and reports.
