    Manager: Executive Support

    • Applications from suitably qualified candidates are invited for the position of a Manager: Executive Support for the office of the Managing Executive. The purpose of this position is to provide strategic support and coordination in the office of the Managing Executive in the implementation of highly responsive, effective, and professional operations.

    Requirements

    • Be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in business administration/ accounting/ finance (NQF Level 7 Essential)
    • A Master’s Degree in a related field will be an advantage.
    • Have 5 years of experience in business performance management.
    • The proven track record of working in a conservation and/or Tourism environment will be an advantage.
    • Have 3-5 years of experience in financial administration/accounting.
    • Have thorough knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
    • An understanding of regulatory frameworks, i.e., PFMA. Treasury regulations, SANParks policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate the effective and efficient implementation and monitoring of the division’s quarterly and annual operational business plans.
    • Establish and implement an effective administrative function and related programmes in the office of the Managing Executive.
    • Coordinate the administrative operations and workflow, including composing a variety of reports, correspondence, presentations, guidelines, or related material.
    • Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of divisional policies and procedures, which are informed by appropriate legal frameworks and comply with the organisation’s strategic business requirements.
    • Coordinate annual budgetary and monitor monthly divisional finances, ensuring cost control measures vis-à-vis variance reporting.
    • Oversee the preparation and management of information flow, including proactive liaison with senior management in delivering this strategic support function.
    • Oversee the coordination of logistics and schedules for various meetings, work sessions, briefings, and other events and programmes for the Managing Executive’s office.
    • Ensure adherence to administrative office procedures and administrative management systems.
    • Provide strategic support in the effective communication of and information sharing on divisional-related matters.
    • Oversee coordination of the performance management for the division and ensure adherence to timelines and timeous submissions.
    • Coordinate divisional planning and reporting, ensuring compliance with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.

    Salary

    • R943 635.00 – R1 179 570.00 Per Annum

    Personal Assistant

    • SANParks requires the services of a Personal Assistant to provide secretarial support as well as managerial, administrative and information to the Head of the department. The successful candidate will report to the Park Manager and will be based at Table Mountain National Park.

    Requirements

    • National Diploma (NQF 6) in Office Management/ Administration/ Secretarial
    • 3 – 5 years as a Personal Assistant (PA) at management level exposed to generic administrative work.
    • Knowledge of the Conservation and Tourism industry.
    • Advanced Level Computer Literacy.
    • Valid Driver’s Licence and able to drive.
    • Good Business Communication skills (verbal and written).

    Skills Required

    • Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management capabilities, including project management and understanding of systems, procedures, and office etiquette.

    Responsibilities

    Coordinate departmental activities and events

    • Acting as a first point of contact for callers, answering calls and liaising with clients competently.
    • Dealing with emails and phone calls by responding, passing on messages or highlighting them for the senior managers attention.
    • Efficient administration of the senior managers’ diary and provision of meeting support.
    • Ensure adherence to protocol, policy as indicated in policy documents.
    • Organising meetings and appointments, often controlling access to the managers/executive.
    • Booking and arranging travel, transport and accommodation.
    • Organising events and conferences.
    • Reminding the managers/executive of important tasks and deadlines.

    Information flow and management

    • Assist in the managing the flow of information of the department.
    • Efficient production and administration of the departments’ business documents.
    • Assist the senior managers support in the collations and compiling of reports, correspondence, business documents and minutes.
    • Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.
    • Managing databases and filing systems.
    • Implementing and maintaining procedures/administrative systems.
    • Collating and filing expenses.
    • Ensure departmental compliance with records management system.

    Administrative support

    • Assist in administering the expenditure records and reports for the department.
    • Reconcile budget and provide a variation report.
    • Track expenditure of the department.
    • Administer proper management of assets within the department.
    • Provide administrative support to projects.

    Stakeholder management and collaboration

    • Work with various teams.
    • Maintaining a database of strategic partners and stakeholders.

    Salary

    • R369,915.00- R517,860.00

    X3 Field Ranger APU (Fixed Term Contract Ending March 2027)

    • Three vacancies exist for highly motivated individuals with the necessary skills and experience to fill the positions of a Field Ranger for the Wildlife Conservation Bond initiative in Addo Elephant National Park. The position will be stationed at Addo Elephant National Park.

    Requirements

    • Minimum Grade 12 (Std 10) Certificate or equivalent.
    • National Diploma in Nature Conservation is desirable.
    • Certificate in Resource Guardianship (NQF level 5) or equivalent would be desirable.
    • K9 Handling Certificate, DH1-DH5.
    • 1 year experience as a K9 handler.
    • NQF 2 National Certificate in Conservation Guardianship.
    • NQF level 4 Handle and use of Self-Loading Rifle Firearm Proficiency.
    • NQF level 4 Handle and use of Handgun Proficiency is desirable.
    • 1 – 2 years on the job training in a nature conservation field.
    • Basic Field Ranger Training certificate.
    • Clandestine Operations experience.
    • Health and Safety and First Aid Skills.
    • Valid code B driver’s license.
    • Computer skills (MS Office – basic to intermediate level).
    • Off Road Driving skills would be desirable.
    • Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation.

    Responsibilities

    • Law Enforcement that will include participating in regular patrols by foot in areas that are inaccessible by vehicle and in difficult, mountainous terrain.
    • Conduct Foot/Vehicle/Vessel/Horse/Canine Patrols within the boundaries of the Parks and MPA
    • Mapping of area and objects of special concern for management of area integrity and research purposes
    • Conduct Law enforcement – Issuing of Fines (J534’s), arrests, processing of evidence (from crime scene to court of law) and court appearances as a state witness as well as Compliance.
    • Assist with rescue operations and medical incidents.
    • Daily recording of activities in the pocket and occurrence books
    • Assist with visitor access, safety, and security – gate guarding, traffic/vessel management and late arrivals.
    • Assist in joint operations with other Law Enforcement Agencies
    • Anti-poaching operations throughout Addo Elephant National Park that will require the applicant to work flexitime, night shift and overtime.
    • Regular clandestine and camping deployments in support of anti-poaching operations in Addo Elephant National Park.
    • Conduct inspections with the aid of a dog for the examination of passenger, baggage, for regulated articles.
    • Assist with maintenance and management of all assets.
    • Provide canine support at identified Joint Operations and Routine inspections.
    • Ensure the maintenance of the canine’s health, well-being and training.
    • Conduct follow up of crime scenes, tracking, assist in detection, searches, and law enforcement and compliance with aid of a dog in the park.
