    Principal Specialist: Privacy Office

    Job description

    Requirements

    • Managing and implementing the Vodacom (Pty) Ltd privacy programme. The Privacy Manager will be accountable for POPI and GDPR compliance within Vodacom and implementing an effective Privacy Risk Management programme and processes at Vodacom.
    • Providing expert advice and strategic guidanceto all business units within Vodacom on global privacy laws, regulations and best practices
    • Manage and the implementation of selected strategic privacy initiatives, including conducting Privacy Risk Impact Assessments and promoting Privacy by Design.
    • Develop and maintain relevant corporate policies and providing training to ensure compliance with PoPi
    • SPOC for Privacy Office in engaging with senior management to ensure Vodacom adopts consistent and harmonized approaches on the processing of personal information
    • Responsible for engagement with Information Regulators office
    • Conduct research and preparing position papers on critical privacy matters affecting Vodacom.
    • Responsible for ensuring adherence and application to the responsibility as outlined in POPI Act.
    • Expert Compliance or regulatory skills in the telecommunications industry
    • Good understanding of privacy and data protection principles and the risk based approach in managing privacy risks,
    • Excellent communication skills, presentation, training, public speaking and people skills, with an ability to analyse data protection and processing in the context of IT systems and technologies
    • Results driven, perseverance, proactive, responsible and an ethical person with a passion for privacy and ability to strike a balance between compliance and business interest
    • Resilient and an ability to deliver in an ambiguous environment; organized and ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders, at all levels, to achieve the objective

    Education And Qualifiication

    • 8-10 years in a Legal or Regulatory environment with significant compliance experience as essential
    • Extensive experience (5yrs or more) in a regulated industry e.g. Telco, banking, etc within a multinational matrix organisation
    • Relevant Legal Degree essential(LLB preferred)
    • Experience in dealing with privacy and data protection matters is highly recommended
