    Mechanical Engineer

    Job description

    Bosch Projects, a level 2 B-BBEE company and member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This position will be based in Durban and reporting directly to the Sugar & Industrial Divisional Manager.

    The Sugar & Industrial Division undertakes sugar and industrial projects in both the public and private sector. Typical projects involve multi-disciplinary engineering and project management in the sugar, industrial and related process plant sectors.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Leading mechanical design deliverables within the sugar or industrial sectors
    • Producing, maintaining and taking responsibility for all mechanical engineering deliverables required in projects, including equipment specifications, plant layouts, general equipment arrangement drawings, piping drawings, input to PFDs and P&IDs, datasheets, equipment lists, tender enquiry documents and adjudications, commissioning and O&M documentation
    • Co-ordinating multi-disciplinary engineering project teams
    • Managing and interfacing directly with design draughtsman/s
    • Interfacing with public and private sector Clients from scope definition and project inception phase through to project close-out and
    • Providing business development assistance to the Divisional Manager where necessary.

    The ideal Candidate should:

    • Have a BSc. Eng. (Mechanical) / B.Eng. Mechanical or BTech Mechanical
    • Be registered as a Professional Engineer/ Professional Technologist with ECSA
    • Have a minimum of ten years engineering experience at least five years of which must have been accrued working as a mechanical engineer in a relevant factory environment or engineering consulting company
    • Have extensive engineering experience in either sugar or pulp and paper processes would be an advantage
    • Have extensive experience in materials handling would be an added advantage
    • Possess a thorough understanding of project engineering workflow and a broad understanding of the other design engineering disciplines, i.e. Process, Structural, Instrumentation and Electrical engineering;
    • Have effective computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office, 3D Mechanical Engineering Software packages
    • Have competence in conducting finite element or analytical analyses (added advantage)
    • Be an honest and effective communicator, capable of managing deliverables against strict deadlines
    • Have strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
    • Be prepared to travel within and outside RSA borders.

    Project Engineer

    Job description

    Bosch Projects, a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a Project Engineer. This position will be based in Durban and reporting directly to the Sugar & Industrial Divisional Manager.

    The Sugar & Industrial Division undertakes sugar and industrial projects in both the public and private sector. Typical projects involve multi-disciplinary engineering and project management in the sugar, industrial and related process plant sectors.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary engineering project team on varying appointments within the Sugar and Industrial sectors
    • Provide technical oversight throughout the project life-cycle, from inception, through feasibility into construction and commissioning
    • Fulfil a lead engineering role on multi-faceted sugar and industrial projects
    • Manage Client relationships and co-ordinate project execution within scope, time and cost requirements to the Client’s satisfaction
    • Effectively manage sub-contractors as well as relating positively to site staff.

    The ideal Candidate should:

    • Have 10 years’ experience in the sugar or other similar industrial sectors such as pulp and paper, the majority of which has been spent in a factory or consulting environment
    • Hold a suitable engineering qualification
    • (Preferable) Be registered as a Professional Engineer/ Technologist with ECSA
    • Hold sound knowledge of the sugar production process
    • Have experience in defining and understanding specific project scope and deliverables, and manage the submission of competitive proposals
    • Possess a detailed understanding of engineering activities and project engineering workflows required for consulting, engineering services, and EPCM contracts Possess a broad understanding of the other design engineering disciplines, i.e., Civil/Structural, Instrumentation and Electrical
    • Be self-motivated, disciplined, ethical and confident
    • Have experience in utilising AutoCAD (3D preferable).
