Our opportunity

The Bryte Casualty and Litigation Claims Manager’s role is to direct, control, monitor and manage the relevant reporting claims team and operations therein. The manager is to provide effective support to the Head of Specialist Claims.

Your role

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

• Assuming responsibility for the casualty and litigation claims portfolio, managing and directing a team of specialist claims handlers
• Overseeing litigation case strategies ensuring appropriate reserving, cost to benefit analyses and engaging appropriate vendors
• Preparing reports and engaging with reinsures on cases exceeding retention
• Adhering to regulatory and governance requirements in terms of casualty and litigation claims
• Planning and implementing performance improvement initiatives focussing on team coordination, high performance culture and ensuring delivery of a focussed claims service
• Planning and implementing a communication strategy for internal and external stakeholders, understanding stakeholder’s interest and expectations relative to the company’s strategic objectives and long term sustainability

Your Skills and Experience

Qualification

LLB Admitted Attorney/ Advocate

Experience

• 5 years insurance experience.
• 5-8 years management experience in a similar environment.
• Experience in managing Loss Portfolio Transfer arrangements
• Experience in the Short Term Insurance industry / at least 5 years’ experience at a corporate insurer / practical experience at a law firm in the insurance department
• Practical experience in commercial / corporate law is an added advantage

Additional Information

• This role is based at our Head Office (15 Marshall Street, Ferreirasdorp - Johannesburg).
• A valid Driving Licence and Passport is required
