    Operations Manager SSA

    Job description

    • Reporting directly to the SSA General Manager, ALS Inspection; position will be based in Johannesburg, with regular travel to the rest of South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Deliver high quality, technical services to exceed customer requirements in an efficient and effective manner.
    • Identify and implement key best operational practices and procedures within the ALS Inspection network.
    • Identify areas of weakness (organisational, procedural, process, operational practice, equipment) and work with management teams to optimize operational structures, use of resources and operating protocols.
    • Assist in the roll-out of a global programme to deliver standardisation of inspection and analytical methods.
    • Strengthen and support a centralised approach to risk management; provide leadership to operational teams relating to risk management procedures and exposure.
    • Identify operational training needs; develop and implement training programmes in conjunction with Technical manager SSA. Strengthen and standardise the level of customer service provided across ALS Inspection.
    • Establish and maintain an internal audit programme for SOP’s. Regular trouble shooting and audit exercises in line with internal and external requirements.
    • Project management; assist and contribute towards the continued geographical expansion and development of the inspection and analytical network via planning and set up of new facilities.
    • Maintain and develop close technical working relationships with ALS Inspection customers ensuring service delivery is fit for purpose.
    • Optimise subcontractor relationships and agreements to ensure operational quality in the field.
    • Ensure a consistently high standard of reporting (interim & final) and certification to all customers.
    • Provide technical advice, support and guidance within the ALS Inspection global network whilst working to International standards.
