Senior Applications Engineer- (Microgrid Energy Systems) at Eaton

Job description

Additional duties include:

• Analysis of proposal requirements and project manager/sales team developed scope of work
• Detailed development and design of proposed systems and services(3)
• Writing formal technical proposal documents
• Interfacing with internal and external vendors on specifications and pricing
• Providing guidance and support to project management personnel on installations
• Support technical aspects of customer opportunity sales meetings
• Support technical aspects of trade shows and technical paper presentations
• Support Sales Organizations in lead development

Position Criteria:

• Ability to understand customer needs in co-develop value based proposals that persuade customer on design solutions.
• Superior knowledge of sales techniques, customers, and customer relations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible to adjust to changing priorities in a fast paced work environment.
• Advanced computer & software skills, including well versed in MS Office Suite of tools
• Ability to quickly learn Eaton’s electrical product and service offerings/capabilities.
• Possesses strong technical writing and presentation ability, organizational skills, documentation and communication skills, and have previously functioned as part of a team dynamic.

Desired Skills and Experience

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering and design experience of electrical distribution systems, including a combination of low voltage, critical power, and data center experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the South Africa without company sponsorship (Professionally registered with ECSA).
• Ability to travel frequently within South Africa and surrounding region, but also to Europe and US from time to time.

Preferred qualifications include:

• MBA highly preferred with experience in development of business cases
• Software experiences a plus.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA.
• Systems Engineering experience.
• Prior experience with designing and delivering solar / storage / microgrids.
