    Brand Manager

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and ambitious Brand Manager, based in Johannesburg and reporting to the Marketing Manager South Africa.

    The main purpose of this role is to support marketing service organisation in the South Africa market to increase the sales of Hasbro Sales & Distribution South Africa Pty Ltd Partner Brands, to manage delivery of commercial benefits.

    Major Scope of Responsibility:

    • To be the brand and consumer expert, inspire confidence and have excellent competitor knowledge on areas of relevance to their brands.
    • Understand and implement global/ EU marketing strategies in the market, adapting them to local needs, wherever relevant.
    • Comprehensive management of the product categories, building brands in line with corporate branded play strategy and transfer into measurable action steps.
    • Implement promotional and communication strategies (incl. ATL, consumer and retail promotions, events, in-store, PR, Digital etc.)
    • Measure and report performance of all marketing campaigns, and assess against goals and propose corrective actions.
    • Monitor and analyse toys market, consumer behaviour and actions undertaken by the competition.
    • Analyse brand performance, give recommendations to constantly improve.
    • Work closely with Trade Marketing team to work out customer promotions , delivery of brand asset requirements and previews samples requirements
    • Monitor ongoing media plan vs stock availability and performance.
    • Understand brand performance: listings, Rate of Sale (sell-in, sell-thru), media delivery.
    • Understand Global brand and product plans and any global research
    • Build an effective partnership with sales teams to ensure that brand objectives are achieved and influence what happens in each retailer on brands including brand events during the year. .
    • Prepare and execute POS/POE, planogramming and catalogue requirements and ensure implementation of these.
    • Develop strong relationships with key retail customers and respond to needs.
    • Presentation of brand strategies and products at previews, PR and retailer events.
    • Implement communication plans including ensuring global adverts are ready to air in local market and manage play out and transmission, media plans, leveraging 3rd parties including licensors, promotional and PR activity.
    • Localise global websites and develop additional local web requirements and digital campaigns. Monthly monitoring and managing of websites and digital platforms.
    • Work closely with agencies and develop briefs for all franchise brand campaigns across all mediums.
    • Manage local marketing calendar inputs and outputs.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Educated to degree level
    • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in sales & marketing commercial environment.
    • Evidence of delivering effective plans, products and marketing communications programmes as part of a team.
    • Experience of writing and delivering effective presentations and briefs.
    • Project management experience.
    • Business acumen.
    • Budget management.
    • Experience in a start-up organization. (Desirable)
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
    • Ability to evaluate effectiveness of plans and programmes.
    • Evidence of ability to persuade and influence.
    • Solution focused.
    • Ability to productively manage partners under tight deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
