    2 X Fumigator in Charge

    You would be supporting the Rentokil Pest Control business in Gauteng Region

    Requirements

    • The purpose of this role is to achieve the quality of fumigation, safety, and standards as set by the company and by South African fumigation legislation and regulations. We aim to achieve high quality delivery, technical advice, safety, and on-time service to customers.

    Operational Focus Areas:

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that fumigation services are carried out in compliance to Pink Notes and only in countries authorised by group
    • Implementation and control of all maintenance of the contracted works.
    • Full operational responsibility from the start of the fumigation to the end/hand over of the fumigation.
    • Report unsafe fumigation findings to his/her line manager immediately and he/she may have the authority not to proceed and continue with any work if it is unsafe to do so.
    • Accountable for all fumigation services on a client's site and responsible for all staff/contractors that work on a particular site.
    • Maintenance of documentation regarding all activities associated with the fumigation process - ie:
    • Site risk assessments
    • Fumigator personnel records
    • Logbooks
    • Gas clearance certificates,
    • Readings taken from gas detection equipment
    • Equipment Checklists
    • SOP
    • MSDS sheets
    • Pink Notes
    • Training registers
    • Identify any potential hazards, non compliance or Health and Safety issues related to work being carried out on the clients property and notify and report such findings to the customer accordingly
    • Effectively identify,manage and control all operational methods,processes and quality and any SHE associated with the transportation of fumigants whilst paying special attention to all factors that pertain to the SOP.
    • Ensure that transportation of fumigant and or fumigation preparation:
    • Is in compliance with all relevant and local government regulations.
    • SDS for each fumigant is always present in the drivers vehicle.
    • All SOP’s are present in the vehicle.
    • Any fumigants transported in a vehicle are secure at all times.
    • The appropriate warning signs are displayed on all vehicles at all times
    • Vehicles are kept clean and tidy at all times.
    • Take responsibility of the store room/ storage area by
    • Restricting access to stores/storage area by ensuring that the area is locked and no unauthorised personnel enters
    • Only the Fumigation specialist may have access to the store/storage area
    • PPE is worn at all times
    • This pertains to stores on clients sites/premises as well
    • Comply with the companies Health and Safety rules and regulations as per relevant SOP’s which includes but is not limited to the following:
    • Signing off of all Risk Assessments prior to any fumigation taking place.
    • Ensure that all staff on site comply with PPE, uses a PPE checklist and records thereof are kept on file for audit purposes
    • Ensure that every fumigator has a full SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) during and after fumigation.Each fumigator needs to ensure they carry a personal monitoring device during and after fumigation.
    • PPE checklist and records are kept on file at all times for audit purposes
    • Identify fumigation risk areas by clearly defining the area using danger tape and danger signs, and restrict access to the area.
    • The use of warning signs on the tarpaulin or fumigation area.
    • Ensure that no person enters the risk area during fumigation.
    • Ensure that Fumigations take place with 2 x fully qualified fumigators, one of whom is a Fumigation Specialist. No un-trained personnel are allowed in the fumigation risk area at any time.
    • Comply with the safe disposal of all spent fumigant. No spent fumigant may be left on a clients premises as this is a serious violation.
    • Comply with the relevant SOP to minimise risk.
    • Accountability for all fumigation monitoring and detection equipment as well as tarps/sand bags
    • Ensure that the equipment is kept clean and locked up when not in use.
    • Ensure that all equipment utilised to read fumigant levels are calibrated once a year.
    • Proof of all calibration certificates kept on file for audit purposes.
    • Ensure monthly inspections to replace any faulty equipment and report findings to the line manager
    • Effectively identify,manage and control all operational methods,processes, quality and SHE associated with the correct cubic meter calculations and treatment rates for each type of fumigation.
    • - Attention to be taken to all factors that appear in the SOP and SWMS
    • - Take note if ISPM 15 is required of dosage and reading times required to meet customers expectation.

    Leadership

    • Manage, develop and support all assistant fumigators as required to carry out the services function in conjunction with the fumigation supervisor
    • Ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
    • Assume full accountability for failed fumigations and identify the root cause.
    • Proactively investigate serious safety violations on site.
    • Lead by example by ensuring that you adhere to all SOP’s
    • Attend and participate in on site audits, meetings with clients and reviews.
    • Escalate and report on non compliance.
    • Develop and enhance the competency of Assistant Fumigators to meet

    Customer Service & Relationships

    • Assist with identifying sales leads for the region
    • Attend customer reviews and meetings when required or according to the site specific requirements.
    • Develop and maintain long term customer relationships
    • Escalate problems to the Branch Manager/Fumigation Supervisor/Fumigations Manager/Regional Business Manager and Technical Manager where appropriate
    • Thorough and timely investigation of issues

    Team Contribution

    • Proactively support the Branch to achieve targets and deliverables
    • Create and support a culture of continuous improvement relating to the Customer Services Team as a whole through constant participation and involvement in team meetings, projects and sales promotions
