    Manufacturing Manager

    Description

    The Role

    Tesla is looking for an exceptional Manufacturing Manager to lead the module manufacturing area in our Solar Products fab located in Buffalo, New York, also known as Gigafactory 2. This person will work closely with the Site Leadership team to create an effective Module Manufacturing team that will achieve outstanding safety and operations results. The candidate will report to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing to provide on-site leadership from the first tool install to full scale 24x7 production in the largest solar module plant built in the western hemisphere.

    Responsibilities

    • Execute operational plans including performance targets and budgets.
    • Develop and lead the execution of plans to meet all required Safety, Quality, Delivery and cost targets. Set standards of performance for personnel.
    • Promote and deploy the use of continuous improvement techniques and practices (lean mfg., 5S, factory physics, etc.).Assure internal metrics and improvement efforts support company goals and objectives.
    • Analyze operational data and use sound manufacturing science to make real time priority adjustments to optimize cycle time and output.
    • Manage a team of employees to meet departmental goals via appropriate allocation of workload and effective resource management.
    • Interview, select, train, and develop new employees.
    • Evaluate employee work and productivity and monitor for process adherence and compliance.
    • Formulate performance improvement plans and make termination decisions as necessary.
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws.

    Requirements

    • BA or BS in Industrial Engineering or other Engineering background or evidence of equivalent exceptional ability
    • 5+ years of solar high volume manufacturing experience required; experience in other high volume manufacturing operations such as semiconductor or LCD a plus
    • Experience supervising a 24x7 organization.
    • Strong leadership skills.Able to empower and motivate employees to work as a team to achieve organizational goals while creating growth opportunities for high potential employees.
    • Familiar with semiconductor or solar fabs, operations, quality, equipment, process and yield.
    • Experience running a fab and experience in semiconductor engineering is a plus.
    • Experience in an environment utilizing self-directed work teams.
    • Experience in Lean Manufacturing programs and tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. ‘
    • Ability to positively and effectively interact with internal and external customers.
    • Regular, reliable and predictable performance required.
    • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
