Head of Technical Accounting at Visa

Job description

Visa Europe has a new opportunity within our Finance Division for a Head of Technical Accounting. This role will involve the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual statutory reporting to parent company, p reparation of the annual Financial Statements and related Notes, managing the group audit work and local statutory audit, liaison with external auditors and ad-hoc Financial Reporting assignments.

Key Accountabilities

• Financial Change:
• Impact assessment of processing and scheme split on financial reporting and development of relevant regulatory reporting
• Participation in development of reporting format under US GAAP, including appropriate journal entries to facilitate, also reporting consolidated figures under IFRS
• Preparation of financial accounting papers
• Providing accounting opinions on new products/transactions undertaken or planned, to meet US parent company governance
• Supporting business process analysis and implementing required change
• Alignment of accounting policies to US parent company s
• Manage accounting impacts of moving to parent company s accounting systems
• Liaising with external auditors / advisors
• Planning group and local statutory audits
• Providing significant support to auditors and external advisors
• Co-ordinating queries across the Finance department
• Statutory accounts preparation
• Preparation of required disclosures for group accounts
• Preparation of the local statutory accounts (both primary statements and notes to the accounts)
• Preparation of subsidiary accounts
• Month end responsibilities
• Manage month end close process
• IFRS/US GAAP adjustments
• Balance sheet and free cash flow preparation and analysis
• Manage balance sheet reconciliation process

Essential Criteria

• Highly experienced accountant, who can provide evidence that they can hit the ground running
• Significant PQE experience
• ACA or ACCA qualification
• A strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
• Demonstrable significant experience in external financial statutory reporting, preferably under US GAAP
• Evidence of implementing accounting change
• Stakeholder management
• Ability to work cross functionally across the business and adapt to changing circumstances
• Must have group accounting/consolidation experience
• Excellent Excel skills
• Proactive, curious nature
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrable time management skills, with a focus on regular delivery
• A good team player, with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Criteria

Oracle experience preferred, but not essential
