    EquiSoft is a consulting services firm that specializes in the design and development of business solutions in the fields of insurance, retirement and financial planning, data processing and publishing. With its Headquarters located in Montreal, EquiSoft has a team of more than two hundred specialized resources located in Canada, the United States, Latin America, South Africa and India.

    The primary responsibility of a Functional Developer will be to configure the Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) system to match client specifications. The ideal candidate has superior analytical skills, insurance industry knowledge, and a good acquaintance with programming concepts and databases. The typical work environment requires the candidate to have a strong desire and aptitude to quickly adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Also, a strong willingness to learn new skills is highly encouraged.

    Responsibilities

    • Configure business processes based on defined business requirements
    • Configure product features (such as calculations) based on product specifications
    • Load product rates
    • Define product parameters
    • Configure access and security roles
    • Use OIPA built in functionality where possible to meet business requirements
    • Work with the technical team to ensure integration points are supported through configuration
    • Work with the Quality Assurance team to troubleshoot and resolve issues

    Skills and abilities

    • A strong understanding of SQL and general database concepts, in terms of query building and optimization
    • A general understanding of the various insurance and/or annuity products
    • Ability to self-start, multi-task and manage conflicting priorities
    • Works well in a team environment
    • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
    • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills

    Requirements

    • Essential – B.Sc. with any science as a major (preference given to major in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, and Information Systems)
    • Asset – Programming experience; specifically in procedural programming
    • Asset – Graduate degree in a science-related field
    • Asset – Experience with Insurance Policy Administration processes.
