CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Our Product Development team has a position available for a Product Development Specialist, who will be based in Santam Head Office: Tygervalley.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• To perform a technical role as part of the Product Development Team.
• This includes design, development and implementation of relevant products and offerings for the Santam Group, aligned to Santam’s strategy and operating models for South African and selected emerging markets.
• This individual is also responsible for Product Governance and the draft of policy wordings in accordance with agreed governance processes.
• The individual is required to establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

Technical Role

• Analysis of competitor products and product benefits
• Technical analysis of existing and proposed products to establish product models relating to cover
• Draft wording aligned to Santam’s principles of simplified language
• Technical support to product training team
• Product governance
• Maintenance of TCF working document
• Relevant product accreditation to Access Standards
• Product and process catalogue maintenance and evidencing
• Analytics
• General research (product benchmarking, product research, product trends and analysis of data)
• Stakeholder Relations
• Building relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Engaging with all relevant divisions, e.g. IT, HR, Underwriting (PL & Commercial), Group Sourcing, Actuarial, Claims Services, Marketing, Affinity Markets, Business Change, Project Management Office, etc.
• Establishing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships within Risk Services
• Close cooperation with colleagues and managers in Product Development

QUALIFICATIONS

• Min COP or other Insurance related qualification
• Supporting degree or diploma (recommended)

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• At least 5 years’ experience in short-term industry
• Knowledge of short term insurance underwriting practices
• Extensive experience in all MS Office applications (Excel, Word & Power Point

• Deep understanding of product and ability to analyse product from a financial perspective to ensure profitability (technical product competency).
