We're seeking a currency and bond reporter for our Johannesburg office to cover South Africa's volatile markets. In this role, you'd be responsible for producing daily columns in real time about foreign-exchange and fixed-income markets and explain the events and issues that impact them. You'll be expected to have a solid knowledge and understanding of South Africa's economy and financial markets, preferably in foreign exchange and bonds, as well as the dynamics that move these assets. Extensive contacts with the investors and traders whose decisions and opinions drive asset prices would be a plus.

You will be part of a broader team across Europe, Middle East and Africa that covers foreign exchange and bonds both for experienced professionals and a wider audience and will be working in close harmony with reporters and editors in the Johannesburg bureau as well as across markets teams, magazine, television and the web, occasionally contributing to these platforms.

• Deliver accurate and concise stories under tight deadlines
• Generate stories covering both fast-paced intraday market moves in short format and long-term trends and insights, that don't just focus on the "what happened" but also on the "why" and "so what"
• Tap Bloomberg's rich data and analytics to access original material for technical charts and stories
• Collaborate with reporters across the newsroom and markets teams

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work steadily and calmly under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
