    Job description

     

    Reports to: Head of Finance

    Start date: 1 August 2017

    Compensation: R25,000 per month negotiable

    We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to assist our Head of Finance take our finance team to greater heights. The ideal candidate should be passionate about numbers, obsessed about attention to detail, have a high level of emotional intelligence, and have an innovative mind set of improving controls and processes to improve efficiencies.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    Overall responsibility of managing the financial and payroll function independently, for a highly innovative, fast-moving tech company.

    Responsibilities:

    • General
      • Full accounting function up to trial balance
      • Capturing of the various cash books
      • Reconciliation of cash books to bank statement
      • Ensuring General ledger accounts balance monthly
      • Capture all related general ledger entries
      • Accruals & Balance Sheet Schedules and - recons
      • Analysis - Expenses, Leave Schedules
      • Supplier invoice processing, and reconciliations
      • Supplier liaison
      • Customer liaison and debt collection
      • Calculation of PAYE and UIF and completion of returns via SARS
    • Monthly processing of salaries
      • Weekly cash flow forecast
      • Preparation of customer invoices and follow-up on payments
      • Manage HR files and related statutory documentation
      • Management of asset record keeping and annual verification process
      • Preparation of monthly payments
      • Reconciliation and control of staff travel expenses
      • Assisting with various other admin functions and/or ad hoc
      • reconciliations
      • Maintain filing and record-keeping system including referencing to bank statements
      • Reporting:
      • Preparation of Monthly Month end Pack
      • Export Income Statement and Balance Sheet into Monthly Executive Financial Report
      • Analysis and Explanation of expense variances
    • Annual
      • Preparation of financial year end file and audit pack
      • All SARS Returns
      • Year-end roll over
      • Salary year end procedure and EMP501 control and submission (bi-annually)
      • Ensure that tax clearance certificate is up to date
      • Audit preparation and attending to audit queries

    Core Competencies:

    • A relevant post-school accounting qualification
    • Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles
    • 3+ years full function Bookkeeping & Payroll experience
    • Auditing and accounting experience will be beneficial
    • Advanced level MS Excel skills
    • Sage/Pastel Accounting or any other Accounting software package experience
    • Sage Payroll experience would be beneficial
