Senior Manager: Data Science at BroadReach

Job description

The Senior Manager: Data Science leads the BroadReach global data science team in further developing the organization’s predictive analytics and insights capabilities. S/he will be responsible for formulating and testing hypotheses to determine solutions that drive maximum business impact.

Key measurable outputs of the position include:

• Lead the evolution of BroadReach's data science strategy.
• Lead and manage a data science group including expertise in statistics, image analysis, data-driven predictive analytics, and computer science.
• Recruit, develop, and manage capabilities in machine learning, deep learning, statistical modelling, and other computational approaches to extract insights from large proprietary and public data sources.
• Coordinate the collaboration of the data science group with internal product design, engineering and client-facing teams.
• Represent BroadReach's global data science capabilities with our partners, clients and in the scientific community.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics
• 7 years of relevant, post-graduate work experience in analytics in a fast paced, product-oriented environment delivering world-class data science outcomes.
• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, data mining, statistical methodology and demonstrated experience using these techniques to solve research and consumer problems.
• Experience in strategy development and strategic leadership in R&D or business environments.
• Experience with people management with diverse talent.
• Experience in the healthcare and /or pharmaceutical industry sectors is preferred

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required

• General (pre-requisite)
• Accomplished in the use of statistical analysis environments such as R, MATLAB, SPSS or SAS
• Proficient in one or more of the following programming environments: SQL, Python, Java, Go or C/C++
• Knowledge of SaaS platform deployment
• Deep understanding of statistical and predictive modelling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms
• Ability to understand, prepare, and analyze large and complex data sets. Ability to collaborate and work with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
• Ability to hire, train, manage and motivate staff
• Ability to analyze data, draw insights, and prepare reports in a cohesive, intuitive, and simplistic manner
• Ability to predict emerging trends and provide recommendations to optimize business results
• Project and program management skills
• Professional proficiency in written and oral communication skills in English
• Presentation skills (user groups and conferences)
• Organisation (orientation/probation)
• Application of Donor (in particular US Government) regulations and procedures to daily work requirements
• Application of good business practice to daily work requirements
• Operational knowledge of BroadReach approach, policies and processes
• Operational knowledge of all BroadReach products and services
