    HR Consultant

    Job description

    Fast growing media concern is looking for someone who is able to converse in Xhosa to join their HR team - duties will include

    • Provide an effective recruitment and selection service to line management, from conceptualising and understanding the role through to assisting with selection decisions; ensure compliance with relevant organisational processes and labour legislation in this regard;
    • Advise line and staff on employee relations issues, implement and coordinate disciplinary and grievance resolution processes and assist with consultation processes as required, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation;
    • Coordinate all payroll input documentation monthly, including documentation related to new employees and terminations, salary adjustments, changes to benefits, and any other instructions that affect the monthly payroll;
    • Ensure all authorisations have been obtained before submission to payroll and that information is accurate and complete;
    • Coordinate the implementation of the biannual performance review exercise and advise line management on processes and issues involved;
    • Identify training needs and provide feedback to line management about training requirements and suitable training providers;
    • Monitor and maintain the accuracy of employee information on the HR information system to allow for accurate monthly reporting;
    • Assist with aspects of employment equity and skills development reporting, which could include maintaining accurate records, facilitating forums, collating data, education of line managers and employees, etc;
    • Assist with monthly reports as and when required;
    • Ensure general HR administration is completed accurately and timeously, through effective time management or delegation to HR administrator as appropriate;
    • Maintaining Staff files and records
    • Conduct exit interviews to facilitate analysis of retention trends;
    • Assist with the on-boarding of new employees, including induction programmes, documentation, etc;
    • Assist, implement and communicate wellness programmes
    • Ensure that health and safety policies are applied.

    The following skills and experience are required:

    • Matric /Grade 12
    • Relevant HR diploma or Industrial or Organizational Psychology Degree
    • 2-4 years’ HR experience in a generalist HR capacity
    • Knowledge of relevant labour legislation, particularly BCEA, Employment Equity Act, Labour Relations Act and Skills Development Act
    • Solid knowledge of general administrative processes
    • Solid knowledge of HR principles, processes and procedures
    • Proficiency in relevant software packages and applications (VIP HR Premier added advantage )
    • Agency experience would be advantageous
