Accountant Expenditure at Ilembe District Municipality

Description

• Coordinates and controls sequences associated with the verification and provision of information related to Expenditure transactions;
• Analysing and approving expenditure recording processes referring to information detailed in supporting documentation and resolving deviations from procedures;
• Interacting with the internal/external auditors and makes available information, supporting documentation and proofs of approval guiding specific recordings, adjustments and allocation of Expenditure Accounts;
• Controls the key performance areas and critical outputs of personnel within the Branch;
• Implementing remedial measures/ corrective cation to align performance and output against agree standards;
• Co-ordinating the recording and processing procedure of Expenditure transactions;
• Reconciling creditors accounts and claims (insurance claims, fuel, salaries) and proceeding with the posting and balancing of ledger accounts;
• Calculating, using specific formular and procedures, to determine statutory payments due (Value Added Tax, etc) and verifying records against transactional information ;
• Performs specific sequences associated with maintaining electronically based information/ data and files/ records;
• Applying data storage/ recovery procedure to back-up information and records on the Accounting Module;

Requirements

• National Diploma in Public Finance Management and Administration or any equivalent Finance Management and Administration with majors in accounting and/or Management Accounting.
• Certificate of Competency in Local Government Finance (MFMP)
• Computer Literacy (MS Excel; any recognised Finance System)
• 3 - 5 years Financial Accounting/ Budgeting/ Cost Management within financial administration environment.
