The main purpose of this position is to support the Undergraduate Manager in providing an effective and efficient administrative service to the Faculty, undergraduate students and applicants, in all aspects of academic administration and servicing of academic committees.
Requirements for the job:
- Grade 12, with preferably a 3-year tertiary qualification.
- Three years of university or equivalent experience working in a changing environment.
- Experience with transactional databases and or PeopleSoft.
- Experience with spreadsheets at the intermediate level.
- Experience with servicing committees.
- Strong interpersonal and well-developed communication (verbal and written) skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to work under pressure in a highly demanding environment with competing pressures.
- Initiative and willingness to work flexible hours based on work pressure at peak periods
The following will be advantageous:
- Experience with implementation of online academic administration systems and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Online Admissions and Online Registration
- Online Student Administration (academic concessions, curriculum changes, credit and exemptions, leave of absence, progression statuses, mark changes, qualifiers and distinctions, Dean’s Merit List, prizes and awards)
- Online and in-person student queries, help and advice
- Detailed and thorough investigation and maintenance of Student Records for funding and graduation purposes.
- Committee work: drafting agendas, writing detailed minutes and follow-up work on behalf of the Timetable Committee
The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is between R 337,873 and R 397,499.
