Area Manager at Air Products South Africa

Job Summary:

• We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Area Manager to join our team in the Air Products Packaged Gas Department at our Witbank location.
• The Area Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the designated area, including sales, customer service, and operational efficiency, managing the Merchant Gases business in the Witbank, Mpumalanga & Phalaborwa area.
• The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving business growth and managing customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans to drive sales growth and increase market share in the designated area.
• Manage a team of sales professionals and support staff, providing guidance, training, and mentorship as needed.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, identifying their needs and providing relevant solutions.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to track progress and ensure goals are met.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiencies and enhance customer service.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to staff to support their professional development.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum Grade 12 with a commercial, sales or technical diploma/degree qualification is essential.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales and/or operations is required;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervising sales areas and facility/branch staff, preferably in the industrial gas industry.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and colleagues.
•  Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the industrial gas industry.
