Qualifications and experience required:

• Must be a qualified Electrician.
• One-year relevant experience.
• Must have own vehicle. A locomotion allowance will be paid in terms of the relevant policy.

Key attributes and competencies attached to this position:

• Must be physically fit and healthy, and able to perform manual operations and duties on foot - is required to carry, lift or push material and equipment weighing over 20 kg. It is also required to climb a ladder and to work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to cope with working under environmental conditions that are physically stressful such as varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Must be able to cope with mental stress arising from potential or actual physical threat as work is to be performed in proximity of live electrical equipment.
• Sight, speech and hearing ability (test for colour blindness is required).

Job purpose:

• Performing duties associated with the electrical installation, construction, maintenance and repair of distribution substation equipment, including inspecting for load and fault reporting, overhauling/testing distribution transformers and auto re-closers, attending to routine administrative recording requirements, and monitoring and correcting subordinate personnel in terms of productivity and work performance.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
