Relevant B degree or equivalent in HRM with specialisation in Labour Law. LLB/B.Juris/B Proc with proven experience and specialisation in Labour Law will be an added advantage. Valid Driver’s License with own vehicle. Meet MFMA Minimum competency requirements or qualify for dispensation.
Knowledge of the Employment Relations legislative and regulatory framework including Labour Relations Act, BCEA, Employment Equity Act & COIDA.
Experience in appearing in conciliations, mediations, and arbitration proceedings. Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of the SALGBC and CCMA. Ability to use dispute resolution interventions to resolve disputes. Computer literate (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
Project management and financial management skills. Specific attention to detail and research skills, Competent in interpretation, implementation and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable regulations/policies.
Five (05) years’ experience in Human Resources specialising in Labour Relations of which a minimum of three (3) years must be at supervisory level.
DUTIES
Manage disciplinary matters and grievances. Preside over internal disciplinary hearings, grievances, and appeals. Represent Midvaal in conciliations, mediations, and arbitrations.
Prepare and/or ensure adequate preparations and representation of Midvaal in disputes, emanating from grievances, referred to the SALGBC, CCMA or Labour Relations interventions on all matters, as and when required to do so.
Facilitate the resolution of grievances and conduct necessary investigations for such resolutions.
Develop and proactively implement mechanism that minimises disputes and create sound employment relations. Manage and monitor disputes received and other labour related matters.
Serve as interface between the Labour Relations Unit and Departments. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, collective agreements, and employment practices. Participate in the development of appropriate policies and procedures.
Provide support to Midvaal line managers and stuff on labour relations and management cases. General administrative and management of the subdirectorate. Compile labour Relations reports.
Maintain database of decided cases and report such as required. Supervise and develop staff in subdirectorate. Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested and required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
