    Assistant Manager National External Affairs

    • An Assistant Manager is required to help coordinate the company’s external affairs function, support the delivery of the external affairs strategy, monitor relevant political and public policy developments, and oversee a two-way flow of relevant information to internal and external stakeholders.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Assist in the delivery of the company’s external affairs strategy, including monitoring key political developments, providing briefings for senior managers, and stakeholder management as required.
    • Assist the development and maintenance of internal and external stakeholder networks to support the external affairs function.
    • Mapping stakeholder groups in relation to the range of issues affecting our sector.
    • Assist in the implementation of programs and policies where necessary.
    • Facilitate and manage intelligence gathering for engagement and decision-making purposes.
    • Where required engage with external stakeholders for information gathering and relationship building purposes, including (government, academic institutions, NGO & other stakeholders).
    • Project Management with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Actively participate in industry events to gather and share information with the business.
    • Plan and coordinate quarterly meetings.
    • Manage and coordinate industry surveys.
    • Coordinate the sustainability report with focus on ESG.
    • Plan and coordinate plant tours and other industry events.
    • Process invoices for the department.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • NQF 5 level qualification (240 credits - level 8 framework) in related field
    • 2-3 years’ experience after internship / graduate / entry level position
    • Automotive industry knowledge and experience in external or public affairs
    • PC literacy (MS Office Advanced)

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Strong attention to detail, a diligent approach and excellent project management skills.
    • The ability to engage with the company’s senior leadership and their support teams.
    • Some experience in a political, public policy or public affairs environment
    • Good writing and analytical skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines.
