Associate Accountant - 12 Months Fixed Term Contract at Caterpillar Inc.

Job Summary:

• We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Accountant to join our team in South Africa. In this role, you will be responsible maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing GL accounts reconciliations, debtor and creditor cash allocation and preparing month end reports. You will also be responsible for month end journals. Additionally, you will conduct or assist in documenting accounting projects and prepare or assist in the preparation of accounting reports and year-end activities.
• Please note that this is a 12 Months Fixed Term Contract.

What you will do:

• Handle accounting tasks of moderate complexity with some autonomy for decision-making within delegated authority.
• Identify and escalate inconsistencies or concerns beyond delegated authority to management for resolution.
• Utilize basic accounting principles and procedures in your daily tasks, ensure everything complies with regulations and industry standards.
• Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of accounting systems.
• Understand and contribute to the department's continuous improvement objectives, measure progress, and address any identified issues.

What will put you forward:

• A completed BCom accounting degree is preferred, but a similar qualification/certification will be considered.
• 2 + years’ experience in a similar position, with a strong focus on daily payment allocations, cash management, bank reconciliations and cashbook allocations.
• MS Office Suite – Advance Excel skills required.
• Experience with an ERP System.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP will be advantageous.
