Associate Project Manager - Modderfontein at ABB

Job Summary 

You will be working as Associate Project Manager, will be part of Electrification business area for Distribution Solutions division based in Modderfontein; South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Project Management Officer Manager and will be responsible for leading the execution of small projects with low complexity and ensuring that all related activities are executed in accordance with company procedures, relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements, cost or profitability targets and scheduling targets. Including Project Managers assigned to small projects in the service business.

Your responsibilities

• Leading the project team allocated to the project. Motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. Providing performance feedback for the resources allocated to projects and ensuring compliance with standard ABB internal directives and procedures, relevant cybersecurity regulation, standards and contractual requirements
• Monitoring and controlling project progress effectively and efficient resource utilization. controlling project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow. Identifying, qualifying, quantifying, managing project risk and ensuring all opportunities are identified and pursued.
• Ensuring the project consistently applies contract and claims management in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements. Coordinating with supply chain management and successfully procures required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers. Supporting procurement and logistics in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes
• Acting as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders
• Creating project HSE plans and ensures that common HSE policies and reporting are implemented across the project with all stakeholders, including collaboration and consortium partners and sub-suppliers. Defining and applying basic project scheduling techniques to manage schedule risks proactively to avoid possible future schedule deviations with On Time Delivery (OTD) impact
• Identifying and planning all document deliverables required by the contractual scope of work and incorporates this plan into the overall project plan

Your background

• National Diploma Electrical engineering (Bachelor’s Degree preferable).
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in Project Management focused on electrical engineering projects,
• 5 - 10 years’ work experience in similar field
• PMP or similar Project Management qualification
• Must have own vehicle
• Must be willing to travel locally and internationally
• Preference will be given to EE candidates.
