    BI Administrator

    BI department:
    Solution Monitoring 

    File ingestion 

    • Ensuring that files have been received 
    • Ensuring that files have been loaded into the solution 
    • Escalating any file related issues to the correct channel
    • Contacting data stewards for file issue 
    • Movement of files daily for ingestion

    Data Validation and population throughout the system and into reports

    • Checking the data validation reports daily 
    • Highlighting any anomalies to the relevant data stewards.
    • Document the logic around the anomalies that confirmed to be correct by the data steward.
    • Portfolio Grid exception and completeness report 
    • Operations reporting 
    • Generate reports for the operation environment 

    First Line Support

    • May include face to face business engagement to assist will issue resolution
    • E.g. Confirming access
    • Ensure feedback loop from Group BI to the user where issues are resolved or feedback is required

    Basic training

    • Where to find reports 
    • How to connect
    • What cube to connect to

    First Line solution support

    • Issue ownership until resolution 
    • Solution Reference Data Maintenance
    • Escalations to group 
    • Initial investigations 
    • Workflow co-ordination using JIRA
    • Execute and distribute daily checklists by 8am, highlighting issues and logging it on JIRA

    JIRA ticket administration 

    • First line solution reporting 
    • Documentation Maintenance

    Create and maintain support knowledge base 

    • Assist BI Project teams where requested 
    • Constant process improvements
    • The processes surrounding this role is immature, improvements are welcome 
    • Highlight potential projects that will reduce manual intervention.    

    Attend and administrate the Data Stewardship forum to address support issues 

    • Complete Meeting minutes in the stewardship forum
    • Maintain and follow up on issue and risk log
    • Assistance in creating and updating service management processes 

     
    Qualification & Experience 

    • Experienced in service management support 
    • Experience in administration 
    • Experience and skills in the key performance areas listed above
    • Basic understanding of data modelling and dimensional modelling
    • Basic understanding of Business Intelligence or data warehousing
    • Familiarity with PowerBI and confluence wiki and JIRA
    • Experience with process mapping

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Advanced level of computer literacy (MS Office, etc.)
    • Excellent administration skills
    • Knowledge of SQL
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Self-starter

    Qualification and Experience

    • Grade 12 with 1 to 2 years related experience.

    • Record keeping, filing and maintenance of databases
