Description
Ensure Recording of bank transactions via cash book for all four bank accounts on a daily basis and the monthly reconciliation of these accounts.
Ensure weekly reconciliation of lodge-based revenue balances with cash and credit card receipts and ensure the timely depositing of cash.
Maintain an unallocated deposit listing for use by the reservations department.
Review of Night Audit reports and report on variances where necessary.
Liaise with and assist the assistant bookkeeper with capturing of supplier invoices.
Liaise with and assist the assistant bookkeeper with payment of invoices as they become due as well as the associated settlement runs.
Relieve assistant bookkeeper while on leave.
Maintain accrual listing for all recuring expenses where invoices have not been received by month end.
Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
Assist with month end entries to ensure smooth running of the month end process.
Assisting with preparation of monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations as required.
Assist with the calculation and settlement of Botswana training and bed levies.
Accurate filing of all relevant documentation.
Efficient implementation of all work-related instructions given by superiors / management.
Assisting with external and internal audit queries.
To ensure the adherence of standard accounting procedures (IFRS) within the accounting operations.
To ensure the adherence of company standard operating procedures within the accounting operations.
Be available for travel if required.
Requirements
Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, advantageous.
Experience within a hospitality environment or similar is preferable.
Highly computer literate (MS Word / Excel).
Proven bookkeeping experience.
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
Data entry skills along with an aptitude for numbers.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
