Broking Manager - Placement at Marsh

What you can expect:       

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Broking Manager to join our team. As a Broking Manager, you will be responsible for handling the Placement Broker function on high complexity accounts. You will lead and support a team of brokers, guiding them and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Your expertise will be crucial as you provide expert guidance on challenging renewals, ensuring optimal outcomes for both clients and the organization.

We will rely on you to:

• Lead the placement of insurance policies on high complexity accounts.
• Actively participate in both internal and client renewal strategy meetings.
• Review quoting slips and policy wordings for accuracy and completeness.
• Negotiate terms with local insurers and wholesale brokers to secure optimal coverage.
• Analyze and provide recommendations on terms, quotes, and alternatives for Client Executives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with insurers at a mid-management level.
• Provide advisory support to clients and Client Executives as needed.
• Attend ad hoc client meetings and participate in placement sessions.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards and regulations.

What you need to have:

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in similar role with broking people management responsibilities
• Min - NQF level 4 completed
• FAIS Compliant
• Property & Casualties knowledge and experience
• Excellent negotiating skills
• Conversant with the coverage provided by all classes of insurance handled within Placement
• General knowledge of specialist classes of insurance
• Ability to broker high complexity accounts in the local insurance market
• Ability to implement the placement strategy on high complexity accounts
• Ability to identify suitable insurance markets for specific risks
• Basic knowledge of risk financing techniques, risk management principles, and reinsurance mechanics

• Obtained or commenced studies towards Higher Certificate in Insurance / IISA Introductory Programme in Short Term Insurance / IISA Programme in Short Term Insurance or NQF level 5
