Introduction

Multi Green (Pty) Ltd is a fertilizer mixing plant in Villiers in the Eastern Free State, partly owned by VKB Landbou (Pty) Ltd since 2019. Since 2005 Multi Green specializes in the precision mixing and distribution of liquid as well as granular fertilizer. The company is well established and well known in the farming community and the fertilizer sector.

Job Function

The successful incumbent will spearhead the purchasing process from selecting suppliers to ensuring stock optimization, as well as provide guidance on sourcing and procurement processes.  The Buyer will specialize in implementing cost-effective purchasing of all the goods and services the company needs to support its daily operations.

Requirements and Skills

• Grade 12/ NQF 4 with a relevant qualification recommended.
• Proven experience ordering stock and raw fertilizer material, managing stock rotations and managing tender processes.
• Proven network and market intelligence, local and international.
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques in the fertilizer environment as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market.
• Talent in negotiations and networking.
• Ability to function independently within team context and to accept responsibility.
• Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
• Driving cost saving alliances across departments and business affiliates.
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness on stock movements etc.
• Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
• Building strong internal and external procurement relationships.
• Ensuring site compliance with procurement policies, legal policies, financial controls, quality directives and relevant SOP’s.
• Continuous monitoring of raw material stock levels, raw materials, packaging materials with the help of Multi Green’s management team.
• Control procurement budget and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
• Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies.
• Develop supplier relationships to drive greater strategic value.
• Lead negotiations to secure optimal terms and drive profit and loss value by providing exceptional industry analysis, benchmarking, negotiation, and contract management skills.
• Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services.
