Chief BIM Modeler – Structures at AECOM

Job Summary

Serves as a capable professional in a structural engineering design team, creating, developing and finalizing production work on projects with minimal direction and supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer or designated senior team member.

Core Responsibilities

• Act as BIM Lead Verifier
• Authors and ensures compliance with BIM Execution plan and BIM standards.
• Contribute to AECOM global digital and innovation initiatives
• To optimize BIM Model and deliverables production
• BIM Model and Drawing coordination (within Structural Engineering & Cross-Discipline).
• Guiding and management of junior staff.

Project/Design Responsibilities

• Organizes own and others work to achieve set deadlines
• Independently checks the completeness & accuracy of work created by the team before review by the Senior Engineer or designated senior team member.
• Prepares BIM Execution plan and project standards
• Creates and maintains discipline BIM standards methods and procedures.
• Collaborates with other regional ME Digital leads
• Contributes and builds a cross-region digital community to share ideas best practice
• Ensures information exchanges occur as stated in the BIM execution plan (frequency and formats)
• Ensure spatial coordination
• Administers and manages discipline content and script management solutions
• Manages discipline BIM content creation
• Initiates and manages projects in BIM360
• Supports project BIM models and deliverables
• Initiates coordination strategy and reporting using Navisworks and other coordination software and supports the team through the delivery phase
• Administer and manage disciplines software.
• Adopts creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks, undertakes appropriate research and develops documentation to support these solutions
• Proactively checks and coordinates project BIM models and deliverables to ensure they meet Client requirements and Industry Standards and project BIM Execution Plan
• Ensures accuracy and quality of discipline BIM model information, presentation, and coordination
• Collaborates/communicates with other disciplines regarding coordination issues and common BIM model development tasks
• Works with the team to communicate, solve, and update BIM models for coordination and design issues.
• Communicates with clarity, purpose and accuracy
• Determines solutions, methods and procedures on assignments to deliver products & services
• Guides junior staff.
• Contributes to AECOM global digital initiatives

General :

• Keeps abreast of the latest software/ techniques to increase productivity

Minimum Requirements

Specific Skills Required/Project/Design Responsibilities:

• Ability to fulfil all the above duties and responsibilities
• Good technical knowledge of practice line discipline
• Advanced understanding of the design process and interfaces between design disciplines
• Computational skills – Dynamo / Grasshopper / Python
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM 360, Navisworks, presentation software and working on projects in a BIM environment
• Develops BIM content based on BIM modelling standards and as outlined in BEP
• Expert knowledgeable of Industry BIM standards, processes and general approaches
• Expert knowledge to set up the configuration and administration of projects for respective discipline in Revit and AutoCAD
• Advanced technical knowledge of concrete detailing
• Advanced technical knowledge of steelwork detailing
• Ensures the team performs BIM model QA/QC checks on projects according to established and company standards to ensur

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
• Postgraduate qualification in a digital-related field
