Role and Responsibility:

The role of the Civil Artisan / Supervisor is to co-ordinate, manage and control the preparatory arrangements, work in progress and completion of specialised tasks/ activities associated with underground construction, installation and / or maintenance of all project related civil works. 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Grade 12 / NCV 4
• Related Civil Engineering qualification and or Trade Certificate
• N2 Relevant 4 Trade Subjects
• Valid K53 Code 8 License

Experience

• 2-5 Years experience in the Mining Sector
• 2-5 Years experience in underground construction of civils and infrastructure

• Good communication skills, must be English literate (speak, read and write)
• Ability to work in a team
• Computer Literate, Basic computer skills

In addition the applicant must :

• Be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Be familiar with the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Successful candidates will be subjected to the following screening and verification processes:

Background screening

• Criminal checks
• Validation of qualifications
• Competency tests
• Medical assessment (must be medically fit)

The Civil Artisan's work is primarily regulated by scope of work, standards and procedures.

The jobholder is responsible for his/her own safety as well as for others according to the Mine Health and Safety Act.
