    Compliance Officer

    The role:

    The Talent Compliance Officer is responsible for the development and execution of our policies and procedures as it pertains to employment regulations in our operating environment. Working in the online education space, this role requires someone with labour law compliance experience in a school environment in order to ensure that Valenture stays abreast of its obligation from a regulatory perspective. The role involves designing processes and procedures, database management, audits, and reporting.

    Day-to-day responsibilities include:

    • Ensure that all incoming employees have valid Safeguarding and Compliance documents at reference check stage by coordinating with the Talent Acquisition team (such as updated Police Clearance Certificates, valid certificates for South African Council for Educators, and appropriate forms for National Register for Sex Offenders);
    • Create employee folders with relevant documents & update BambooHR & expiry dates accordingly;
    • Coordinate communication with employees on expiry of compliance documents and implement plans to mitigate risk of non-compliance;
    • Ensure relevant VI employees are registered on the child protection register (submit forms before person is employed and have new employees submit their forms);
    • Maintain an active database of employee compliance documents and ensure all team members are in good standing;
    • Compile employee documentation and information for scheduled and ad-hoc audits;
    • Liaise with Talent Acquisition & Legal team on latest requirements, process improvements and candidate/employee documentation.

    Requirements

    • Qualification in Labour Relations or Law
    • Experience in school environment preferable (international schools would be a bonus)
    • 1-2 years experience in HR compliance preferable
