Crane Operator at Safal Steel

Description

To operate overhead crane to lift, move and position coils, rolls and any other equipment/material as requested by Supervisors in accordance with company standards and procedures.

• Observe load hook-up and determine safety of load.
• Manipulate or lower crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to instructions.
• Position transported coils, rolls and any other equipment/material as requested.
• Cleans and maintain hoisting mechanism.
• Inspect crane for defective parts and notify supervisors of defects and malfunctions.
• Monitor and adhere to Safe Working Loads (SWL). Perform pre-use inspection and complete checklist.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
• Safety & Housekeeping
• Ensure Compliance with the requirements of Safety, Health and Environment Standards and Procedures.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work environment, free of any spillages or obstacles.
• Monitor and adhere to Safal Steel operating standards, working manuals, working instructions and procedures.
• Equipment Operation & Support
• Safely, efficiently and accurately operate equipment according to operating procedures, instructions and schedules.
• Inspection of work area equipment and ensure appropriate working condition and report any equipment malfunction.

• Continuously reporting observed defects and deviations on the operating parameters and production requirements to the Team Leader

Requirements

• Minimum academic qualification: Matric, Valid Crane license

Experience required:

• General work experience (years): One
• Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): One
• Key competencies and skills: Good time management skills. Team player.
• Able to work under pressure
