Grade 12 plus 4-year Degree/BSc (NQF 8) in Agricultural Science/ Agro-processing/ Food Science as recognised by SAQA.
3-5 years’ relevant experience, of which 3 years must be at an Assistant Director level in Agricultural Science / Agroprocessing / Food Science. Valid driver’s license.
Duties :
Contribute to the management and implementation of the Gauteng Agroprocessing Strategy with specific focus on enhancing the growth of processed and value-added crop products.
Coordinate project management activities aimed at assisting new and existing crop processing stakeholders with planning, technology and safe operations for sustainable increase of their products in the horticulture value chain, grain milling value chain, industrial and indigenous crop value chains, etc.
Obtain, evaluate and disseminate information on international trends to local industries to keep them informed of new trends/ requirements. Work with National Department and contribute to the databases and information related to the Maximum residue limits (MRL) for processed products destined for local and export markets.
Work with relevant stakeholders on the development, analysis and review of product standards/ legislation including the revision of existing policies, guidelines, checklists, inspection procedures and standard operating procedures.
Evaluate and monitor performance of employees to ensure achievement of strategic goals. Manage the human resource development of employees in the sub-directorate.
